Colonization Question regarding first station

Can I "upgrade" the first station I build later and so transform it into another type of station? I mean, can I make a outpost and later upgrade to to a Coriolis type station or am I stuck with it forever?

I don't think it's anything crucial. If you later want a bigger station in the system, just build one. As far as I know, there's nothing special about the starter station compared to any subsequent stations you can build. It's just a station like any other.

My only grip with the outpost is that it dont have a Large landing pad and that would prevent me from using my hauler (T9) in that system until I have a Coriolis in place.

Also I am concerned about the definition of a economy for the system and above all a shipyard

Point is, why do you want to replace the starter station? Why not just just build the coriolis station in addition to it? It's not like you will be saving any work by replacing the original station.

Latching onto this as I have a similar question. As I understand it so far, you have the colonisation ship with large landing pads as long as you're building the first station. But what about subsequent ones? Do you get another colonisation ship when you start further project after the first is completed and the ship has left, or will it stay on after the initial station is complete if you initiate more projects?

With the first station you get less choice as to where to put it iirc. Build an outpost first and then a large pad station at a preferred spot at a leisurely pace and not within 28 days.

I dont know how the economy of the system is calculated for the purposes of defining the amount or revenue you get weekly but I guess its based on not only the type of facilities build into the system but also the type and size of the stations built, so it would be preferable that you dont "waste" a construction slot on an outpost right?

That said my argument is only valid if there is no cap in the amount of revenue one can get weekly per system.

The thing is the 1st port ( primary ) does not cost construction point while the one after that need tier 2/ tier 3 point. FYI Asteroid/Coriolis need 3 tier 2 points & ocellus need 6 tier 3 points. You get 1 tier 2 point for every tier 1 installation built & 2 tier 3 points for every tier 2 built.

So if your primary port is an outpost then you need to build additional 8 tier 1 installations & 3 tier 2 orbital installations/planetary settlements to build the Ocellus port.
And the system economy depend on the type of installation you build. Your 1st port in an Ocellus ? Then it just pump out food cartridge & bio waste until you build some more . Mining installation will get the port generate minerals ;build a Refinery and you get Aluminum , copper , steel , titanium on the market.

Well, I decided to build a Coriolis with quad truss on it (because it looks cool but I really dont know if there is a benefit to that) and in the last night I managed to complete 10% of iy with my T9 (all modules A, no engineering and 704 of cargo). Took a few hours for me (10 trips) but if things stay in that pace I will complete it soon (,aybe by the end of the week?)
