General / Off-Topic Colony cancelled.

Colony got cancelled, after 3 seasons.

It's a shame, it was a rather good scifi/dystpian show, with good characters. Not my favorite show, but I enjoyed it very much.

Starting to get sick of nice shows getting cancelled while so many shows which are complete crap keep getting renewed season after season...

Well, maybe Netfix saves it.... If not, it was a good run...

So many of my favourite shows has been canceled in last few years that I actually made a decision to NOT watch any new ones. It's a waste of time.
When I find one that looks interesting and is finished I'll think about it, otherwise I'm rather playing games...

Netflix have had some real success with TV series, however their films suck.

I watched "How It Ends" the other night, which was pretty good right up to when they forgot to write the ending. Two hours of my life I'll never get back. And the latest Cloverfield movie was just rubbish.

We're getting a load of talentless wetbacks hitting the writing crews now. Nothing much reflects real life, even the fiction.

For me, Colony had just got going this season, and then cancelled. Need their heads looked at.

On the other hand their have been some dreadful TV series out this year. Anyone seen that Cloak and Dagger? What the drokk is that all about?

Don't worry, you get a nice batgurl show instead ....stay tuned!

This scenario is why I gave up on TV years ago. I would get to like a show and BAM! The ban hammer would fall. Or as an alt, they would do season 1.1 (a handful of episodes), wait many months and do 1.2, and so on so forth causing me to lose interest.

Hence I shut it all off. No paid TV service whatsoever. I have a deep fringe antenna on my roof pointed at the nearest city (60 miles away) so I can get real time severe weather update/tracking and a retro-station or two. I rarely even turn the TV on anymore.

With that in the works and the Rogue Trooper film getting the green light, it might be a decent 2020 for 2000AD fans.

Might buy a lifetime pass to Netflix now.

Oh, hang on...

and just when it was finally coming together! Boussard finally become a leader and gets the army he wanted since we met him, no more amateur hour for him!.

Aliens shown as long as you fulfill the quotas you are protected, not to sure about that through, we never saw or heard Snyder conversations, they were angry when they lost one ship, would they really be ready to lose all the resources that must have going into building those walls?

Those new aliens are well efficient, one of them killing people much the entire new world government or supposedly a group of commando.

Would love to see where season 4 would have gone.

My guess, after a few cat fights, a bit of hair pulling, some rolling around and perhaps a few punching thrown here and there, Snyder and Boussard surely eventually will have to work together along with Everett Kynes take control of their own colony defences. Everett Kynes surely had a plan for defending the colony against orbital bombardment that didn't rely on the first aliens.

Also wonder where that body armour sample was going to, did Everett Kynes have manufacturing facilities for large scale production, is that armour effective against the new aliens? My guess the answer is yes to both and he will be lobbying for them to leverage the armour his people develope to gain control of their own defence shield.

Sal is so slimy I reckon he evil in someway, bram and Gracie are in great danger living in his house.

We season 4 to give us some answers.

That's the thing that es me off in this "shows can be killed off at any moment" era.

Stuff just gets unfinished, stories which you may have been following for years, getting interrupted and never concluded. Even worse, writes can't even plan for the story as a big, coherent holes, because they never know how long the show will air. Stories either get cut off, or artificially extended ad nauseum.

Ultimately, ratings dictate all (which I can understand), but it' s shame when you see nice shows getting killed off and then look at all the junk that seems to last forever...

Scifi shows, being a niche, will always hang in the balance nowadays. Colony, Dark Matter (not in the same league yet still enjoyable), heck even The Expanse, one of the best scifi shows ever, got cancelled!

Here is the formulae for working out if a show is going to get cancelled too soon:

1. If it is sci-fi it has a 50% greater chance of being cancelled after 3 seasons if:

a. It is NOT illogical, without terrible near psychopathic characters 'in charge'
b. It does NOT have terrible story-lines badly realised and schizophrenically acted
c. It does NOT feature all out war with huge explosions and 'war prawn' visual focus
d. It DOES feature anything resembling a probable real future vision for humanity

I have some ideas as to the why of it, but basically it seems the tv watching masses have regressed massively over the last two decades, and the result of that is only the crap stuff can hope to get studio backing these days.

The only way i can see it changing is if those of us that like to see good sci-fi just stop buying/supporting the bad stuff. Just watch the older good stuff over and over instead of the shiny new tripe.

That's what i'm doing. Just about to carry on with the original Battlestar Galactica tonight, and some TNG tomorrow :)
