Colorblind help

Can you please make it possible to change the color of your HUD on console for people like myself who love the game but find it super hard to play because Orange isn’t really on my viewable color spectrum.

They claimed technical problems in the past.
But now we have blue FSS hud!

LOL!

That said, have you tried messing with the in game graphics options?

Yes I have tried however Orange is not in my viewable colors. As in almost the entire hud is basically a light gray or not there at all for me. Which make it hard cause I love space and I have played as much as I can but it’s limited for me what I can do on my own.

Welcome to the Hotel California....

Given that this has been requested so often in the past (starting way back in alpha and beta days) I can only assume that it is actually hard and difficult for FDev to do. Or perhaps they're trying to find a way to make it a saleable item from their store - which to be honest I'd be happy with, if it means we can actually achieve HUD customisation.

Maybe it's coming as a part of premium content in 2019....

Only the PC I think you can change the colour. But you can buy colour blind glasses made by ENCHROMA. I know you are going to say it costs money. But that like anyone with any type of illness It will cost money. I need glasses to see. If you have bad hearing it going to cost money to get a hearing aid. I can point out my pills cost money to control my seizures so I can play this game or even drive a car. Some people need heart medications. It cost money.

I know there are glasses that help however I do have the glasses for colorblindness however they don’t work with every color. I can now see some shades of red and blue that I couldn’t see before but orange and some shades of green I can no longer see.

Then how is the FSS HUD blue?

1. It is hard to do for FD and therefore they never adressed the issue.
2. FD just don't care about the topic.

If No.1 is accurate, then the question arises why have they chosen orange to begin with? By the available way to change the colors the main colors (orange, yellow, green, and red) are all changed just in relation to each other, so, you can only get specific combinations.
You can't change colors individually, but still you can get a few combinations. But still, why haven't they included different colors for the HUD right from the games development start?
There surely would have been a way to implement a hud system with interchangeable colors right from the beginning if they would have spared a thought about it.
This all, IMHO, just reeks of lazyness.
IMHO, different colors can't be that hard to do for the HUD as the <nope> FSS has a blue color.

If No.2 is correct they either didn't think of colorblind people at all or they just do not give a care about it.

If someone outside FDev can easily figure out how to do it and then makes it even easier for everyone to do it (with a PC: http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/ ) i don't see any reason why FDev themself can't incorporate this into their graphics control section.
It should be one of the simpliest thing to do. It only changes some values in 3 lines of code. 3!!!

I have similar problem OP and it would make a huge difference to my game if we had an option to change the colours but I don't suppose it's a priority for FD atm-(.

I am colour blind. However, I have never encountered any situation in my life where another colour looked 'grey' to me nor the inability to see ANY colour. Colour blindness only changes the shade of colours and the minds ability to identify colours without careful consideration under certain circumstances. I have never heard of anyone who sees in black and white or any variation of that :) Are you sure you are colour blind and not suffering from some eating some sort of weird mushroom? :)

I'm red/green colour blind and some greens look grey to me.I have however eaten some sort of weird mushroom in the past but I was told the effects were temporary???

In my view they really shouldn't call it colour blindness, but colour deficiency. There are people that have monochromatic vision or achromatopsia which means that they can't see any colour, only shades of grey, white and black. It can be inherited or caused by injury. But I think it is very rare.

I don't know what kind of colorblind you have but i suffer also from deuteranopia and tritanopia and although the orange HUD doesn't confuse me much because everything is orange i would like to have an option because it's kind of heavy to my eyes. I confuse all the time red with green or brown, green with yellow or orange, blue with purple and grey and even once a black for a bordeaux and this has already caused me issues in real life situations. Funny thing is that I am a designer and i need to ask for help a lot of times to my colleagues when i have doubts about a certain color.

Forget about it. People have been requesting this for far too long now. If FDev were going to do anything about it they'd have done it by now. There's now many other game developers that do build colour options into their games now so if FDev can't or won't implement fixes for users with eyesight disabilities then it's easier and more enjoyable just to play the games that do.
It's a shame really, because 8% of the population have this disability. Imagine if 8% of elites gamers have already given up on the game because it's virtually unplayable for them. Could FDev increase player numbers by doing this colour option fix ?
