Combat bond payout

I can't believe I am asking this given the rampant credit inflation and note it's not a complaint I am just wondering if I am missing sumat.
but in a RES I can melt ships fairly trivially and often get bounties way in excess of 1 mil credits.
thargoids could also earn Megabucks too (albeit I didn't bother with the larger ones on my own)
but ships in a CZ..... even high intensity ones , I am lucky if they pay over 50K and they are some of the most bullet spongy, long drawn out TTK ships in the game.
is there a logic behind this?

thanks

There are the massacre mission that pay big, which ground combat don't have. That's why bonds in space CZ are poor. I would agree that they could use a little buff, since it's no longer possible to stack massacres in the way that every single kill counts for all active missions as it was before.

We can only speculate. CZs are from BGS their primary payout is BGS change, credits are a bonus. Just kill only the small ships and don't engage the bricks. Smaller payout per ship faster payouts for less ammo leading to more CZs completed.

It could also be that they were forgotten when bounties were buffed nobody knows the mind of FDev

CZs from their inception have always paid peanuts. Initially an anaconda paid 800CR in a CZ; I think the reasoning was that it was a target rich environment and you didn't have to look to find targets. With the CR inflation it has more or less kept up its anemic pace, but Frontier have never actually reviewed the initial disparity.

I wish I kept a screenshot of the 800CR payout so I could flash it whenever anyone complained about how hard it was to make CR.

I was there at the start too so remember that. like I said it's not a complaint. just wondering if there was a (logical) reason given they are some of the most drawn out NPC battles in the game. as a general rule I don't do them (not because of the payout, I just don't like bullet sponges and cz ships are the worst for that) but it's a CG with toys so feel compelled to go for the shinies :D

But you go bounty hunting because your targets, thugs and criminals that they are, deserve to be taken out for the benefit of society as a whole and you deserve adequate remuneration for putting your life at risk.

When you pick a side in a CZ it's because it's the Right Thing To Do.

Ground combat does pay better. Find a high intensity battle and you will make bank. I average around 10 mil each time.

The best part about ground combat is that you can heal yourself right there and then in combat. No need to go fly off and find a station just to heal, like in a ship.

There are indeed settlement massacre missions also. You get told which settlement, and you get a "headcount" of how many you need to kill. These missions also offer the bonus of being able to loot the whole settlement in peace, download data etc.

You can't stack them though... while stacked pirate massacres will pay out substantially more both in terms of the individual bounties and the stacked mission payouts. It's about 5m per kill for pirate massacres, but lucky to be even close to 1m for massacres (only if you hit the hardest targets)

It's also worth noting that (unless it got fixed, but I doubt it), the payouts on CZ massacres and wing mission CZ massacres are busted and flipped around the wrong way.

Acknowledging that the missions are the reason for the disparity, said disparity remains and has needed attention in the Community Goal context ever since ground conflicts were available! Without separating space and ground contributions somehow, it calls for a look at how much average time is intended for one conflict, and a balance of combat bonds per time¹ across each.

Indeed the Conflict missions have reversed solo and wing rewards; wing Massacre missions pay close to one-third per kill compared to solo missions, such that sharing with two others breaks even. At top rank and reputation:
  • Solo Massacre is 40 million per 30 kills; 1.333 per kill.
  • Wing Massacre is 38 million per 81 kills; 0.469 per kill, around 35%.

1. I average around ten minutes and 4 million credits for a high space conflict, with typically 8–12 minutes depending on events, and I cannot speak for ground conflicts.

For a long time ground combat was simply disabled for combat CGs. Let's see if FDEV return to that bandaid in the future or do a balance pass or do nothing.
