Combat Bonds and what I did Wrong

A couple years ago I was able to go into Conflict Zones and collect combat bonds (I think).

I forget how this works.
I tried it out recently.
Went in to a high intensity combat zone.
Choose a side..
And started killing stuff.

I went back to the local station, but, there were no bonds to be collected.


What am I doing wrong?


A couple side notes.
I slightly remember checking my 'Transactions' Tab when in the conflict zone. Not sure if this is the same any longer.

Also, I am a member of Arissa Lavigny-Duval in powerplay. I remember something about her that would increase my payout for combat bonds. Not sure if thats still the case.


Anyway.

If anyone could help me get back out of noob status.

Hmm, not sure. You should be getting blue text notifications each time you earn a combat bond for a kill, as you do with bounties. I take it you're weren't getting these?

Can I just go to any conflict zone, choose a side, kill then go to a station to collect?

I dont have to go to a station first?

Make sure the faction side you are fighting for has a filial at the station. If not, search the system for a mission giving person of that faction.

Combat bonds are returned under Contacts->Combat bonds.

It's advisable to check for massacre missions, but it is certainly not a must.

Were the NPC ships in the CZ fighting each other? Maybe there was a cease-fire in effect?

Seems to be working now.

Only thing I can think of that would have changed is that maybe I fired on the wrong side the first time... ??

According to this article there are no powers that give a bonus on combat bonds, just for bounties. However, there is at least one engineer (Bris Dekker/Sol) who wants combat bonds to unlock her services (if you haven't done that already).

Uhh, if you choose a side, one half of the ships will turn red, while the other half will turn green.
As long as you shoot the red ones, you are fine. Otherwise things will go funny realy fast.

since you are in powerplay, you may have dropped in a powerplay combat zone first time?

Do the massacre missions. It's the same, but you get 10 times as much credits. . You have to make sure that you pick the right side when you get there. Hand the combat bonds to the combat bond guy and the missions in to the mission board.
