Combat Build / MC

I have two questions here basically...

I'm planning to some point to get a couple of buddies involved in ED and put together a combat group.

Is Multicrew a stable play mode and if so, do you guys have some recommendations on best ship(s) for a combative role?

Second, if Multicrew isn't a stable setup.. are wings most effective if the ship types are somewhat varied / compliment each other... Or would you just set up for "max firepower" in the wing?

The purpose will probably alternate between PvE and PvP goals/games.

I've spent most of my time exploring so far, but eventually I'm gonna wanna blow BLEEP up. 😆

Thanks for any tips from those who have logged a lot of combat time.

The worst in multiplayer is when you have to do 15 jumps to get to friends, just to discover than they already are on their way 10 more jumps away, so you spent half your play time trying to catch up, which sucks hard.

Avoid at any cost FdL, Gunship and Corvette, these ships are a pain to travel with. especially without engineer (but even with)

Any other ship will do.

LOL, yeah I can see how meetups would get frustrating without some coordination beforehand.

Aside from combat, I'm not sure what else you could really do in MP that would be engaging.. I'm into exploration, I enjoy it..

But I have no idea if my two buddies will enjoy that aspect as much.

So, I'm looking at combat builds as well. I'd thought about a Multicrew Anaconda...

I just have no idea how functional Multicrew really is. I'll probably try jumping into some sessions to try it... The problem there is just the random play with people you don't know..

Seems like it has more potential if you crew with people you know well?

Speaking from recent experience with a few of my friends in a Multicrew Cutter - it's fairly stable. Tons of fun if you have them hop into your fighters and fly around a HazRes for a few hours. If you have the rank, use a Cutter or Corvette for this; if not, try an Anaconda (disclaimer: haven't flown one, so no idea how it handles).

Outside of Multicrew, for PVE really anything goes. PVP is a different beast entirely - I'm trying to build a Courier for it, but haven't tested it in actual PVP yet [wacky]

They are pain to travel with because they are combat ships. If your combat ship can jump, it's not a combat ship. At least not PvP.

I've flown an Anaconda once, and they DO handle like a brick.. BUT, the trade-off I guess is the high class modules, good hard point set up... and if you're not worried about jump range, you can turn one into a tank with armor and shielding modules.
