Combat experts! - Need your help with ship.

Hi everyone,

Was away, came back, learned deep core, made 500 mil creds and want to buy a ship for PVE combat. Was hoping someone could give me an idea of a fun ship to do kill warrants, farm parts, do bounties in PVE for solo play. I have a passenger Python, Deep Core Python and an exploration Anaconda. I need a fun ship to do some combat and get that rating up.

Any ideas for builds or links to builds would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the help.

Either of the two Kraits are fun to build up, Krait Phantom is less expensive but doesn't have the ability to fly a SLF compared with the Krait II. SLF is not too important, because the crew member slows your progress through combat ratings.

So, I would pick the Phantom.

since you seem to love the python ... it would perform very well in pve combat.

kraits fly similar to python, and to the few federal variations on metal scrap ;)

if you want a different experience try a fdl, or a vulture. all small ships can be fun too, but will slow your progress (you said you wanted rank). the vulture though is a natural killer despite its size, will eat through entire packs of rats with ease. actually, anything over a vulture is overkill for anything except high level assasination missions.

Am of the similar opinion, the Krait is quite a fine combat ship and will serve well. As a bonus it can easily convert to small/medium cargo and even explorer mode if so desired.

I would suggest an
, this is one of mine that is heavily engineered for a less extreme version replace the medium lasers with turreted multi-cannon for more extreme move to gimbals.

I'll add my vote for the Vulture. It's a premier combat vessel, and really fun to fly. It was the first pure fighting vessel I built, and I still take it out fairly often.

For a small ship, the Vulture. iCourier is a really fun ship, but a bit handicapped against larger ships due to only having size 2 hardpoints.

FDL is very potent, and I have recently discovered the Mamba which is every bit as powerful as the FDL and also much faster.

The Krait MkII is indeed lots of fun. I used mine to destroy Thargoid scouts.

All the above will want some engineering to get the best out of them.

Don't overlook the Chieftain. Cheap for it's size, cheap for its power and cheap for it's ability to kill npcs and Goids alike. With Guardian shields you can shield tank a ship thats naturally a hull tank and never worry about npcs again.

I've got two, one set-up as an all laser Res-site troublemaker and the other mixing lasers, two multi cannons and a frag cannon too. So much fun.

Ninja'd on the Chief so I'll just +1

Multi weapon

All laser

I'm not saying that anything's wrong with that build, but we must have different understanding of "heavily engineered"

Thanks everyone, appreciate the input. What are a few good ways to spend your time doing PVE combat? High Extraction still the way to go? Should you seek out assassinate missions for ranking? Kill Warrant a good way to rank up combat? Anything fun to do fighting enemy ships that's mission or system based?

Ranking.
Compromised Nav Beacon.
Pirate Activity Detected USSs.
Thargoid Scouts.

Dunno If any of that's changed recently.

High Res Extraction sites are a good way to test out your build without suffering too much .... NPC help is always at hand. You can add to your rank here.

Next up, probably Combat Zones .... the opposing ships are tough and quite brutal, until your build is optimum. A good test.

I've recently been doing 'kill xxxx pirates' missions. These create POIs in the target system that have a difficulty level. I found that threat 3 and 4 seemed to result in you having to fend off about half a dozen ships of varying grades and as they are mission targets, you can get through your kill quota pretty fast. Once all are dead, you nip back into SC and find anoyher mission related POI.
That should keep you busy for a bit.
😊
