might aswell ditch the HRP's.. rather be agile than have 2 points extra HP.

The Eagle will still be more agile than all trade ships that it'll target, bar player Haulers with PE thrusters. I'm sure these are a thing.

I find these HRP to do more than a lot of people think. The Eagle will always be ludicrously agile, no matter what you do with it.

The HRP is one thing I know I won't be changing, as I know I get genuine protection from them.

I found a single fixed beam on the centreline, and gimbled multi-cannons on the wings worked very well for me.

With A rated trustees, she was nice and nippy in a turning fight, but could be left behind or overhauled easily in a straightline. With enhanced trustees and a lightly overcharged Power Plant, she's no longer cheap, but damn, does she fly!

Those are a thing, ive got 2 haulers with E drives and DDT5 :p

dont get me wrong, i love the HRP.. but i personally wont put them on such small ships.

you can allways try some E drives for it, altho the power requirments go through the roof and the optimal weight with weapons might also not be ideal.

still one of the most fun ships in the game. Got mine with DDT5 and quite lightweight. Shes sitting at 67.5 tons and minimal weight for the E drives is 67.8.. so 720ish on boost :D

Interesting loadout - Tonight I'll be using my second CMDR who is still in an Eagle MkII, think I'll try to get a similar loadout and see what I can do with it. No doubt that will involve flashing my landing gear at other ships while spinning around on all axis trying to keep the ship level - Still not mastered FAoff yet... :D

Made some small changes. Weapons, and the PP. I can save 100k by using a B-rated PP.

Main reasons for gimbling the MCs was to be able to keep beam on target at the same time as the MCs, given the different lead rates. In my experience, the beam is sufficient to take down the shields of most things I come up against, and the twin MCs give the hull damage, topped up with the beam.

I relied on agility to keep out of trouble before, now I've got higher agility and more speed.

I got 3 G5 Overcharged Incendiary multi's on mine; I think as good as you'll get in an Eagle Vs anything else's shields/hull without going all rail gun route or other more specialised set up. You may wish to consider one corrosive obvs.

You'll need to reload before capacitor empties so you can pop pips elsewhere more practically too.

Are you trying to keep the price of the ship as low as possible ? Or is there another reason for not upgrading the FSD and thrusters above C-grade ?
My thoughts exactly. Here's his build with A rated items.

You want long range sensors to find dropped items, A-rated thrusters to run from police and A-rated life support in case of extended silent running or canopy damage. I'd take a cargo scanner rather than chaff to see whats inside before engaging, but that's your call.

Oh, yeah. The whole C-rated,/D-rated thing. That's an RP quirk for this save.

I am not by any means trying to make the absolute best ship, though granted, I was keen to get opinion on shields.

This save is just about fun. Having a laugh. Flying a really low-spec fighter whose hull isn't even built anymore seems a great way to do that.

My take on a piracy Eagle, using Engineers & hatch breakers since they can go through shields (or will be able to soon?):

Possibly can drop the hatch breaker controller for a fuel scoop; also, can use a higher-grade Overcharged powerplant blueprint to put on Burst lasers (or other weapons), but at the cost of heat & higher radar signature.

Note the 655 boost speed. (Cheers to Truesilver) :D

Ok!

About the shields, I can definately confirm that they are very weak. Basically, bi-weaves on a Eagle are only usefull when you fail your evasive maneuver, they take the first few shots of incoming damage, but they won't hold for very long at all.

I used size 3 bi-weaves on my Eagle for a while, and later upgraded to a modded standard A3.
The good thing about bi-weaves is that they allow for a lot of small piloting errors, and recharge very quickly in between.
For exemple if your ennemy wants to joust, damaged bi-weaves are able to regen to full capacity between each joust, until you manage to get behind your ennemy again.

However you can't rely on them for anything other than a stray shot. If your ennemy has a SLF, or a wingman, or a cop drops in, you can start running because you're gonna take some hull/module damage rather quickly.

the eagle is my favourite ship, I use it for bountyhunting, conflict zones and more.

https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/eagle?code=A0p0tzF3l3d5s8f124292900432om32525.Iw18kA==.Aw18kA==. is roughly my combat build, I do have a 3a fsd for travelling. needed a bit of engineering to fit enhanced drives + 2× rails, but now it can punch a bit above its weight class.

got a second one for teabagging (loading), rare trading, canyon racing, exploration ... they are cheap.

salute for sticking with the true eagle and ignoring paper stats. also: ship kits and skins!
