Horizons & Beyond:Landing/ driving / prospecting on airless rocky planets, moons & asteroids
Ship-legs : Walking around interiors and combative boarding of other ships
Station legs :Combat and other interactions with other players and AIs in the internal areas of star ports

There was this discussion/debate that was on the forums at launch.

What happens in Ship-legs when your ship explodes?
Now the running hypothesis was,

You get an extra life (well sort of)
Your engines may break, your power plant may have exploded.
Yout hull ruptured.
Basically your hot-ship is dead the bounty on the Hot-ship is collected by the attackers.
(thank new C&P rules, you just made the core game-mechanics stay the same)

But you the player, are stll alive.

A class A life support though you got 25 minutes of extra game-time.
resist arrest from the Police.
Fend off the boarders and get the ship back online. Heck Steal their ship (The expansion to the space sim i-war called Defaince intro) when the pirates, ejected and boarded the navy ship, as the naval personal boarded the pirates ship.

So we better have some good security on our air-locks to stop sneaky EVA's.

But what happens when you do die?
Currently when our ship explodes we player respawn at the last save point,
or we are whisked magically away to a starport by escape pods that create a magical wormhole to the last port you docked at.

But with Ship-legs
Your ship is hulled and a pirate comes aboard and shoots you - dead.

Simarly later on with station-legs afterwards, what happens when you get killed then

I wonder what the hand-wavium explanation will be to respawn you ???

pt 2. I forgot about the combat log.

Let's say you get your extra life-support moments of gameplay.
Will this encourage some Players from combat logging.
Their Type9 might get overpowered by gankers, but the internal defences of the ship,
Stops the 4 other players at bay, (and the Type9 can keep would be pirates onboard, the engines comeback-online and "jumps" to the nearest base with some extra cargo ;) ?

Or you board another player ship (friend or foe) and they log off???
