Newcomer / Intro Combat Log Log - How can I clear my name?

Tonight, the 25th September at 19:56:50 I was accused of combat logging. There's a video of me jumping out of the instance at that time.

Is there a record kept someplace that I can interrogate to show my innocence? Is there one in Inara? Ideally I'd just like someone from the Frontier staff to confirm that I didn't leave the game until around a minute after that time, by replying to this post

Combat logging would imply that you task killed Elite process or pulled the ethernet cable or disconnected the wireless.
Basically any action that would imply quitting the game without going through the quit menu.
If you didn't do any of those you should be ok.

If you menu logged - that is pressing Esc than waiting 15s (danger timer) than quit, you should be ok
If you high or low wake, you should be ok.

People are quick to accuse others of doing certain things - i mean "i lost, you must be cheating" and the likes.
And some people cannot discern between a menu log and a combat log.

When it regards Fdev and terms of service, yes. However, many player groups will have a more exteded view on what constitutes combat logging - including menu log when engaged. It sounds to me that OP is being accused of clogging by players - not by Fdev.

If you waked out then the video should show that and you should be fine. That’s ok by any standards I am aware of.

If you jumped out of the instance that's not a combat log.

Sometimes jumps happen without a flash or a wake signal due to technical issues and end up being difficult to discern from a menu log, but honestly if you vanished suddenly with hardpoints retracted and drive charging then it's pretty obvious what actually happened.

I know how frustrating combat logging can be, so I wasn't too hard on the bloke who accused me of it. I didn't jump to another system tho. I just jumped to Supercruise, eventually <sigh>. Do you still get a wake signal in that case?

Also the bloke can be heard complaining about lag before I jumped. I'm thinking it was just an unfortunate glitch

Block them. Nobody wants toxic players. This will also prevent instancing with them.

Wait, so you low-waked, he accused you in system chat, and you were still there in system chat to reply to him?

The fact that you were online and in chat proves you didn't log.
Not quite. They were not salty, these guys are opponents but not enemies of ours. I had a chat with them thereafter which is where the logging was first mentioned. Not like making an objection, it was phrased as a question.

No need to mention that our rules strictly forbid combat logging. CMDR Frank is one of our most trusted Veterans, and if we were afraid of a rebuy or ten we would not play in the open ;)

I'm not going to waste any more time on this. Like Screemonster says, I saluted him byebye, I retracted my weapons and charged my Supercruise, the bloke can be heard saying something like "My God! This stupid idiot reckons he can low wake away from my gunz of death!", I'm running away from his gunz of death firing off heatsinks and keeping as cold as I can, I then vanish from his view. It's pretty obvious that I jumped

This makes me feel quite nostalgic. Back in the auld days before the arthritis set in, I used to be accused of using an aimbot in Unreal Tournament. Quite a compliment really, but then those accusations were usually only thrown about by less experienced players who couldn't understand how an incredibly brilliant player like themselves could actually get beaten by other players

I've seen actual cloggers get reported multiple times and nothing ever happens to them. There's so many extenuating circumstances around clogging due to peer-to-peer connections that it's hard to prove anyway.

Even if you clogged you likely have nothing to worry about.

Some years back I was jumped by a player in a Vulture while I was cruising to one of the fight locations in a CG after I had rebought my ship I set off again and was hauled down by the same Vulture the fight went better for me this time and I did some damage, it took much longer before I was nearly destroyed but I was saved when he Combat Logged just before he won.

I did wonder if I should report him for CLing to save himself from victory.

Presumably it was just an artefact of the lower stability back then.
