Newcomer / Intro Combat Mission(s) Questions :

If a mission specifies to kill a certain class like: traders, pirates, etc... How do I know who to kill and who not to? For example I had one mission to kill traders in a certain area. I scan them, they come up clean.. Do I just kill them? How do I even know if they're traders? Do I only kill the people that are wanted? How do I know if THEY are traders?

When the targets are attacked most of them just jump away. How do I stop them from jumping? How do I pursue them? I see their jump trail and all my sensors ever do is say scanning when I target it..

Also most traders don't drop from their jump till they're right next to the port they're trading at. How do I pull them out of jump or attack them without being attacked by or reported by the port they're traveling to?

This is just solo play too btw.

But mainly I'd really like to be enlightened on how I can tell who or what my targets are of these combat missions. To make sure I'm not attacking the wrong people or racking up points against me.

Only kill wanted ships otherwise you'll become wanted yourself.

Just fly to a nav beacon or resource extraction zone and kill wanted ships.

I imaging the traders will be trader-type vehicles like haulers, t6s etc.

Not every wanted kill you make will register, just keep killing, you'll get bounties for them all anyway.

To stop people jumping you can target their FSD using the sub-targets on the LH screen. If you concentrate your fire on their FSD they will have problems jumping away.

Using a wake scanner you can follow people who are jumping away.
Then using a interdictor to pull them out of Hyper space.
But if you do this there will be no reward consider bounty don't persist into other systems so you will need a warrant scanner but there will be a big change you will get a bounty yourself.

Also if you target and destroy a FSD he will explode no matter the % health he got. (same goes for power plant)
If you wanna play a bit more with your target just destroy 1 of the thrusters this will prevent them from jumping and moving.

Also 1 advise for smaller ships if you align yourself behind the target it will be easier to kill them in 1 run.
Everything until the asp you should be able to kill without targeting the subsystems if you do it right.

Pirates - Will be in combat orientated vessels. Will probably be wanted, they will come up to you and scan you, ask for your cargo or be disappointed if you are empty.

Smugglers - Will be smaller vessels. Will probably be wanted, they will ignore you and try and get away, telling you their cargo is not worth the hassle.

Traders - Will be in trading vessels. Will be clean.

Bounty Hunters - Will be in combat vessels, will be clean, will scan you and then either attack you if you are wanted or leave you alone if not.

System Authority - Will tell you in the name of pilot.

Propagandists - no idea.

To stop ships jumping out on you, get close to slow their FSD charge and kill them quickly.

If you want to attract Pirates.... just carry 1 ton of a cheap commodity. .. like polymer/food carts. ... so that when they scan you they want your cargo and start the attack

Hi guys. I don't understand those traders killing missions:
-if traders are never wanted,
-if traders are located in system of my own faction (Empire),
-if they are in no way going to attack me first,
Then how do I kill without having huge bounties on my head??

I do not understand why the Empire keeps giving those killing traders missions inside its sectors??

Please, help.

Think of these as being Black Ops missions. You get caught, you're on your own. It's off the books and entirely illegal.

If the mission sends you to kill traders in an Anarchy system then you can complete the task without incurring a bounty.

Kill traders is a mission of horror. No matter how it plays out you're likely to lose in some way, be it monetary or in reputation. Avoid unless you are certain.
