Combat missions

I have accepted a few combat missions have always got someone showing up asking me to abandon them. Once they have there seems to be no way to complete the original mission. I am trying to raise faction rank so I dont want to abandon but once you are offered the chance to abandon I cant see how you can finish the mission. No matter how many pirates I kill there is no reward offered from the original station.

I had the same. Original mission - kill 5 pirates in xxx system. In USS mission was changed to abadont the previous mission. I do not care and kill 5 pirates in xxx system (i tried kill pirates in another systems, but id does not count). Mission complete pop up.

i have a mission now to kill 2 pirates. I have killed dozens, in USS, jump beacon, resource gathering sites.......but I still have the abandon mission in my log and no one is acknowledging the mission kills at the station I accepted it from. Is this just a bug that needs worked out or am i missing something?
