Combat rank - Where are the elite NPCs hiding ?

Hey all !

been working on my combat rank lately with my chieftain and I've been wondering where I could find elite NPCs ? Not much success in Haz RES... Actually my "go to" are high level combat zones where I can find a few elite NPCs but depending of RNG I could clear a complete instance without finding one.

So I'm wondering if there is a better way to find elite NPCs in abundance so I can work on my combat rank ?

Compromised nav bacons and high conflict zones.

Oh and assassination missions might spawn elite npc dunno not done them in quite some time.

i'll second compromised nav beacons. take small population systems for more elite eagles and sidey in my experience.

What about Thargoid scouts - don't they count as Eites anymore?
I think it was a meta for combat grind before Fdev balancing at the end of last year - not sure what happened with Thargoids then.

Compromised Nav Beacons and CZs are your best bet for higher ranked NPCs.

No more considered as Elite unfortunately...I'll try compromised beacons in low population system to compare with high level combat zone. Thanks guys !

Bring tons of gold. Unless I bring shinies, everyone ignores me and I have to spend eternity looking for at least something to kill there...

The higher your combat rank, the higher enemy npcs combat rank. At least for missions.

I'm Deadly rank currently, and these days if I pick up a cargo/source and return mission, every pirate that interdicts me is a Conda of at least Dangerous rank. That's why I always outfit my cargo ships for combat as well and bring collector limpets. I just submit and blow them up. They're a good source of G4s and G5s.

Try the Low Conflict zones. I swear, every time I go to one on my (harmless rated) new account, there are Deadly, Master & Elite pilots all over the place in Anacondas, Pythons, Kraits and the like.

• mission npc rank is bound to mission rank
• randomly spawned npc in supercruise are bound to your rank, security level and shiptype you fly.

There always seem to be quite a few at the CNB in Anyanwu.

CNBs. You can pick and choose your targets. Tons of elite Eagles and Adders. And they are much much easier to farm than CZs.

Just make sure to outfit one LR beam laser. You can give them a 'tap' out to 6k after a scan and they come running.

Pirate Assassination Missions, get Allied to a faction. It should say the mission level in description. Are you Dangerous?

Ok so I spent last night in a CNB and I can confirm that it's the paradise for Elite NPCs (even though I'm only Master on my way to Dangerous) ! I knew that our combat rank affect spawning for missions but wasn't sure for instances like Haz RES, CZs & CNBs.

Anyway, was a lot of fun and also not bad for material gathering got a few Elite Condas (not best for ranking) but had a blast killing wings of 3 Dangerous / Elite NPCs. Also the spawning rate was very high so I never lost time looking for a new target compared to Haz RES.

I think that CNBs will be my new "go to" for combat now.

The mission rank is the major factor in the rank of NPCs spawned by missions not your own ranks.

Our ranks only affect the NPCs from non scripted encounters some interdictions are mission based.
If you are Elite in either of the non combat categories that can boost the rank of theses random NPCs.
