Hmm i think somethink is wrong... Maybe bug?

no bug. Combat rank is not related to how many bounties you claimed or how many ships you destroyed.

The quality of your enemies is key here. Killing 'mostly harmless' sideys won't bring you anywhere. You have to kill 'elite' anacondas. ;)

I'm a little confused by this as well. I've been only hunting SSS for a while now. most of my kills are Anacondas or high ranked Vultures, yet I've been stuck at Master rank for about a month now.....

combat ranks are a little harder to say exactly when you get the next rank, from what ive seen/read and tested myself it seems the rank of your opponents is a variable so you need less kills for higher ranked than say killing mostly harmless for example, the credits earned needs alot more research as 1.2 raised the bounty credits rewarded for kills by a large margin ( but to tell the truth i never really thought the credits earned had much to do with combat rank). try to go for 1 rank down from your self upto Elite targets, that is what i have done from the start and my combat ranks( kills) always fall in line with the older info on https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=117378

hope that helps a little

Happy huning

DJ

It sucks... I'm atacking only big ships ( dropship, clipper, conda, python ) and sometimes ASPs and vultures... a lot of them have "elite" rank.

So then something else must be within the rank calculation. But only FD knows really.

Find a conflict zone if you want to increase your rank.
when you get in one go to your contacts panel and kill the target highest on the list. They are sorted by threat level which would correlate to their point value that frontier won't tell us about.
the thing about counting kills is you will only ever get 1 combat bond per kill.
but when you kill warrant scan someone you might get a major voucher for each faction and any sub factions in the area.
so when it comes to bounties you might get upwards of 5 vouchers per kill so it's hard to go by that.

Not a bug. Rank is not based on profit, it's based on the rank and ship of your opponent relative to your own.

I hit Dangerous at around 1500 bounties, 1200 bonds, and 40/15 million profit.

A lot of assassination missions.

So then something else must be within the rank calculation. But only FD knows really.

More than half of my kills were while in a Viper. I also rarely wing up against NPCs and never carry a KWS.

You mean kill him without selecting faction, yes?

OP you are not that far away I moved up with the following:- Bounties aprrpox 2300 with 65mil and Combat Bonds 800 with a little over 12mil

oops sorry thought your stats were the black&white pic, still think your not that far away

No you will still need to pick a faction.
the contacts panel will have a green or red bar next to each ship. Denoting friendly or not, after you've picked a side always go after the one highest on the list with a red bar next to them.

Sorry, don't believe you. You are post number 12657 of 14538 who has complained about a-bugged-combat-ranking-system-until-it's-not by claiming they only shoot 'elite' npc's. You don't or you are reading the word 'elite wrong.

It's not bugged or there'd be no advancement in the game at all.

Keep shooting and report back when you advance.

I'm on about 3,200 bounties and 500-odd combat zone kills - since around 1,000, I've only targeted Anacondas/Clippers/Pythons/Dropships in RESs and Anacondas, Pythons and Asps in CZs. The problem is that they're usually just competent - master, so I suspect I've got a long way to go...

If you don't shoot every single ship with a bounty that you can get to, You're doing it wrong. Kill them all and reap the rewards. Do you think "skipping" the small fries is going to what, make you rank FASTER?
How does that work?

Agree,... RNG RNG RNG RNG... which probably explains why I also took over 23 mill in exploration to hit Ranger when others did it at 9 mill... tbh.
