Agree,... RNG RNG RNG RNG... which probably explains why I also took over 23 mill in exploration to hit Ranger when others did it at 9 mill... tbh.

Then i guess we both got the stick ... I did just hit pioneer 10 mins ago though about on the 63 m mark, so that's ringing true at least.

Exploration payouts were doubled in a recent patch, so the difference is that some got their ranks before the patch and some after. It still takes the same amount of exploring, there's just a different credit number on the stat screen.

if you want to get on the faster routes for Combat Elite the one you want to target is as high ranked as possible the higher the rank of your kills the faster you get Elite status this is why some get it sooner than others(not counting CZ), for Trade thats just grinding the best routes you can find with as much cargo as you can fit into whatever ship your using A-B(boring to do unless in the Rift) for Exploring fastest way i know from others( im not really into exploring yet) Neutron star farming is supposed to be the fastest route, but what you have to remember is this game is not about getting Elite status, the game is about doing whatever you like to do.

When i traded for elite i set myself daily goals and once reached i could either continue to trade or go do something else( not traded since i hit Elite)

When im actually trying to get Elite Combat faster i have a daily limit of 50 kills (bounty hunting only, i feel CZ farming to be kind of an exploit) before i go on to do something else

if you have one target of hitting Elite in anything it feels as if your not getting anywhere, set yourself daily targets and when you hit them you know your on your way.
