I'm somewhat new to the game and have about 3,700,000 in the bank (currently in a significantly upgraded cobra 3) I really want to buy a keelback because of cargo capacity and fighter bay but I've also had a look at the fed dropship, overall I would love to have the fighter bay but the fed dropship does seem better. Should I wait to buy fed or get a keelback?

Combat traders are not advised because you have to compromise too much to make a trade ship combat ready. The usual advice is make it strong enough to survive until you high wake. Keelbacks are terrible. They're really only good as a cheap fighter launcher for multicrew.
Unless you're talking about PvP, I disagree. My armed trade Python carries 192t from medium pads (up to 10million per run) and is never in any real PvE danger. When I'm hauling palladium I can beat any PvE interdiction if I want, or submit and destroy. Granted I only attract Deadly or Dangerous anacondas, but they are little bother and sometimrs drop nice mats.
For cargo/BH CGs I have regularly taken it (cargo bays installed) to BH locations with no issues, just to break up the hauling routine. If I can be bothered, swapping extra SCB and HRPs makes it too easy for PvE.
Thats not what I asked, I want a combat trader and I was asking which to get, I dont care if it isnt the best ship

1. Should I stay with the cobra until then?
2. Is krait horizons only? i cant find it anywhere. there seems to be a wierd uniqueness about it compared to other ships and i never hear about it.
