Combat Training Material ... Cannot find any for the life of me :-( Newbie Q

There is a great thread for buying random suit upgrades. Is there something can can tell me where to get Data etc.

I think I saw somewhere where you can search your logs for location info. I have only ONE Combat Training Material, even though I have focussed on looking for the data for weeks now.

Any help, much appreciated.

Stuff for suit upgrades is all available from mission rewards. Maybe you haven't realised you can filter by 'Materials'? Or maybe you haven't found the Odyssey missions - some don't realise the mission boards in the concourse are not the same as in ships ....

As @Factabulous says on the concourse filter missions by materials and pick and choose by what you need. It's by far the most efficient way to gather materials. Also negotiating with the NPCs can get you up to 10 of the items they're offering.

I, at a minimum, always go and raid the data port in the Hab. Outside of tourist sites, they are almost all level 0 entry and there's no negative to downloading (legal) data from them. I'm even getting the hang of accessing data ports during a firefight.

Just got back to the boards - here's another one to add to yours OP :)

(many will have more, but is it, as ever, RNG. At least you can know what you get, unlike drops from within bases)

  1. Go here: Odyssey Engineering Cheat Sheet (it's linked in my signature anyways...);
  2. Scroll down to 'Combat Training Material';
  3. Click the link in the first column ('Name'), this will open up the Inara page;
  4. View the common locations where it is found (along with other items for those locations);
  5. (Eventually) fill your boots!
Also: Mission givers (the ones verbally touting missions) can be 'haggled up' - if you're allied and are successful you can really up the amount of materials you get. I've seen CMDRs get 10 power regulators; some time ago I got 10 manufacturing instructions.

It's easy once you know how :)

It seems rather random to me, like for my backpack mod on my Mav, I need Digital Designs and Chemical Inventories or something like that, and whereas I have seen Chemical Inventories, (None at the station I am at now) is there a specific combination of system conditions (Like Anarchy Plague or whatever) that causes them to drop (generate)? Or is there a way to track it on INARA?

Edit, Looks like the poster above me answered most of my question...

I also realised that I have been focusing on Odyssey 'Foot' Missions and neglecting 'Ship missions'. Now on my way to a mission with Combat Training Material (x1) as my reward. ... Sorted. Thanks All. Great support Commanders

So I guess another question to ask, Does INARA or similar sites track what systems are giving what rewards? I am assuming not, becuase it would be a YUGE database/a lot of work, but just want to know incase I just can't find it.
