Combat Zone (and RES Site) etiquette

While fighting in an AX zone today, there was another CMDR present. And because my fighting style can best be described as ‘up close and personal (“Take us in close” / “How close?” / “Right down their throats!”) they accidentally pinged me. Not a bother for me, but:

A) would they have incurred a bounty?
B) is it The Done Thing to switch off ‘report crimes’ in these sorts of areas (in Open).

FWIW, I did just that immediately after.

Hmmm, if they hit you they are filthy criminals without trigger discipline or situational awareness
I wouldn't turn off crimes, but I would wing up. You get no fines or bounties for shooting a wingmate.

Nah, it was an honest mistake. Given that they didn’t even nudge my shields it honestly wasn’t an issue. I felt worse for them.

You lurk, wait for someone to nearly finish something and either ram it to death or take the kill-shot at max range with long-range modded railguns so you get the kill and ----- that guy that did all the work. That's Elite.

If I'm at the comp nav, it means I'm doing target practice and trying something out. If I see you in there, I have a message Macroed... "hey there, just here for some target practice, not interested in winging up, I'll stay off your targets, please stay off mine."

If they then get in my way, they get reduced to 20% hull but not killed. I'm not a murderer.
