Horizons Combat zones broken? No, I AM BROKEN!

YEAH!
As said in the title, I'm not going to whine about combat zones being broken.. BECAUSE I AM BROKEN AND THEREFORE I SUCK!

Jokes aside I just want some serious tips to go well there. That's the only thing I still cannot handle well after the engineers update.
Keep in mind that I have a nice 'conda with a lot of engineers mods (still not the best one but surely not the worst out there).

Thank you for any help [yesnod]

Have you got your shields nicely modded? Do you have SCBs? I find those crucial for the CZs. Can you kill medium and small ships with speed?
A modded Conda should be able to stay in the fight until ballistic weapons run out. Another thing you may want to consider is waiting until all ships have engaged each other before choosing a side. Also, keep an eye on the map to see where the greens and reds are. Even a Conda can be overwhelmed.

When I enter a combat zone I boost to the outside of the group. Then I pick my faction.
I work my way back toward the greens, taking out red ships as I go. Ozram has a good point there. Watch where you are.
You can suddenly find yourself in the middle of a bunch of red. Break off attack if that happens and boost back to the outside and start the process over.
Also watch the zone reset. They can spawe right on top of you. Shield strength is important and SCB's.

Yes, basically this is the problem. I can take out small ships fast enough, but I have to admit that I always have problems when a new group spawns... it seems that they love to aggro me.
Anyway, I always wait to choose faction but I never used your tactic.. I'll test it soon enough.

SCB's are useless to me, they cook my ship and they just restore almost nothing (something above 200mj of shield when my 'conda has more than 1000mj)

On bigger ships you need the bigger SCB and heat sinks to complement. I have 6a shields complimented by a 7a and a 6a SCB. I drop one immediately followed by a heat sink. I wait for temp to go below 20% and drop the next SCB. It can fill my whole shields or withstand a strong concentrated assault and does not tend to go above 95% heat. There are plenty of variations on this you can try. I will say that in an anaconda, without good use of SCBs you will find it hard to survive some of those Agro spawns. When it happens to me, I can use SCBs to tank the initial aggro while I whittle down their forces to a manageable level. Best of luck finding your way around the CZs in your Conda. Just remember it CAN be done. Once you have the hang of it, it isn't hard. Cheers.
Edit: For comparison, I have a little over 1350 shields on my Conda and they are fairly resistance upgraded.

Shields are king. A low level set of defensive mods is better than none, have an SCB and heat sink available where possible, and get used to fighting with pips 4/0/2 with adjustments to keep on target/restore WEP capacitor.

If your side is kicking their backsides for a while, watch out for reinforcements and make sure you're with greens at the time.

Also, bring synth materials. And weapons to use them on.

Easy win with SCBs on ships preferably with a hull mass low relative to internal spaces - fit a class A shield or better prismatic shield into the slot below the top (in the case of the conda, C6 slot) and fit the biggest with that SCB instead.

Conda loses about 200 MJ of shield for dropping a shield class, SCB goes from healing 350 to 650.

That extra 300 recovery makes up the lost shield and an extra 50% in a single use.

And always bring a heat sink for 'em. If your conda is running chaff, it doesn't need it anyway.

EDIT: God damn it, Ozram... ;)

Yeah thank you all.. nope, I use no chaff haha, it's pretty useless. I'm currently running 7 shield boosters and a KWS but I want to change this KWS for the heat sink ( I was just doing the maya CG )

On my Corvette I use 3 PD's and 5 SB's, all level 5 resist aug. and HD. 2 SCB's 7A, 7A shield level 5 HD. No HS, no chaff. I'll trade off heat damage (not significant, a few 10k CR) for longer shield life. It's gotten to the point where I seldom fire up an SCB. Shields are pretty stout for NPC's.

Also, after you do what the other CMNDR's have suggested, look for outlying targets that have strayed from the pack, they won't have support.

Also, be aware when EVERYBODY starts targeting you, it happens randomly, recognize it, and GET OUT ASAP, you can always come back. Don't get target fixated.

One the post "I got my Annaconnda" rrobes outlined his fit on his corvette. I tried to follow that as closly as possible on my conda. I replied on that thread his advice for fitting works wonders. I have 1 upgraded scb and a heat sink, plus 3 sb's and upgraded my 7a shields to lvl 3 resist. I am now able to stay in even under hvy agro. rrobes knows what he is on about so if you follow his advice you will see a vast improvement in your ships tank.

Thanks to all for sharing your experiences here.
I had some troubles in the CZs recently but I see I got the right ideas to refit my Anaconda.

Your combat skills seem to be broken totally indeed. You don't need a Anaconda to stay alive in the conflict zones. Here you see my ASP Explorer flown into the conflict zone yesterday. [hehe]

Nobody is saying you need one mate. If you have 1 tho you do need do fit it correctly so you are not getting popped every 5 mins. Try reading the whole post next time instead of trying to be a hero in your own coco puffs.

You'll better move here mister Warshrike: "Toxic community - Why so?" Stay friendly be happy! [wacko]

A little confused by your post mate. I wan't the one telling somebody that they had no skill. I simply pointed out that if he had of read the whole post instead of trying to be a hero he might have had something constructive to add. Thank you to Chipoli he got where i was coming from.
