I ran a High CZ in my Cobra III last night and did fine.
As for the 15 ships thing, I was going to comment on it but am not sure if you're talking about Conflict Zones or Res sites. If conflict zones, two things can cause the whole place to go nuts on you...
-Carelessness. Causing enough collision or shot damage on your allied ships
-Impatience. Selecting your faction before everything has a chance to spawn
To fix the latter, when you drop in just move about 8km away from the center. By the time you get there, everything should have spawned and you can declare and move back in to work the bait ball from the edge.
I also concur that you could spend some time outside of the CZs, re-learning the fight mechanics.
I don't like the term furball. I'm going to just call them bait balls from now on![]()
Trouble is the OP is in a Crime Sweep not a CZ. In a Crime Sweep you don't get to pick sides, that's automatically done for you, so you don't get the option of cruising out to a safe distance and then picking a side and staying on the periphery.
In a Crime Sweep you drop out of SC into a furball with your allegiance already picked for you. And yes, they do tend to target the big Anaconda that just arrived. For this reason I got turrets, and also stopped taking my Anaconda into things like this. I bought a Viper IV and use that instead, my Anaconda is now little more than a heavily armed merchantman.
