Combat Zones Neglected

Well, I quite enjoy the mindlessness of it, exactly because I don't have to think. I do a lot of thinking at other times, and it's quite relaxing to zone out in CZ.

That said, these wars can be won. They are triggered by the BGS and are won when one faction gains enough influence. This can lead to a change in controlling faction. Running massacre missions and handing in combat bonds increases the influence of that faction. So it's not correct to say there is no objective, but the objective is rather abstracted from the actual fighting.

However, I seldom care about that. I pick the side that pays the best, and go do the mindless pew pew.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them being improved.
Basically this for me, sometimes I just want to murder pixels over and over and over again. Don't care if it pays well or if it even matters at all, just mindless murder of NPCs

"let them fix things" lol...... i'm willing to bet i could come back in 2 years and make the same post word for word, and every line would still be relevant. Moving the combat zone to somewhere interesting isn't going to break the game is it?

As far as I am aware, it likely would break things. I seem to remember the original reason (whether it was just a community agreement or an actual post from our MoM I don't know) saying that the NPC ships are currently not programmed properly on how to fight in an interesting environment. Fighting within a gravity well, a planetary ring or even around some kind of abandoned station/wreck would cause a whole string of NPC casualties due to collisions. It's one of the reasons why we don't have bots for CQC - the maps are too complicated for an AI to properly get to grips with.

If you get yourself allied with one of the factions at war, and take Massacre missions, then 30MCr is what I expect to make, mission payouts and combat bonds combined. (I've not yet tried Wing Missions here, but its possible a Wing of 4 could make more).

It needs to be said that you need to find a war with the correct parameters (I need large pads, and I don't want CZs 300,000Ls out, for example), and if your not allied that needs to be done, so there can be about 2 hours preparation, then you've got three days to milk it. But I quite like that there is some skill to maximizing profits from fighting other peoples wars.

Massacre missions appear to be broke at the moment. I went to several war zones and the only missions I got offered were for factions not involved in the war. Also too many missions want me to kill 60-100 ships for just 6-9 mil.

I was allied with all them too. I remember which factions i am allied with and check for any "war" status updates.

Yeah like that one SRV we have to play with, after 2 years they never even developed a single new vehicle for Horizons surface content. No new ground targets for our ships. If you play any flight/combat game, they have a healthy mix of air/ground targets and combat mission types. In this game, these elements feel abandoned.

Hey come on, you've got five different types of rocks you can shoot. What more could you want?
