Combat Zones, Vulture vs. FDL??

FDL pilot here. My FDL hangs out in High and Haz RES just fine. But it isn't set up for CZs. Anyway, without engineering, the FDL tends to be a bit zoom and boom, but a g3 clean drive tuning fixes that just fine. My huge hardpoint has a burst laser, and everything else is rails. Firing all 4 rail guns gets...toasty. I might bring it back down to two rail guns a put pulse lasers back on two of those class 2 weapon mounts. But I am still experimenting with this. As long as I can make my shots count, it works great. I can't power everything all at once, but I don't need my cargo hatch or fuel scoop in combat. Might want to consider using a low emissions powerplant to help with the heat issues, just be prepared to deal with power management. I dare say that I have about all of the heat issues that an FDL is going to get. One volley from 4 class 2 rails puts my heat up at 90%. So I have to wait for a followup shot if I don't want to cook. Now, I do have a heat sink installed, but it is mainly for emergencies and I use it sparingly.

Again, I might go back to 2 rails on the nose and lasers everywhere else. Rail guns are so much fun.

I have this problem, the challenge of being successful with railguns appeals to me, and I love using them, but it also kicks my OCD in the nuts cos I know it's not optimal. :/
