Combat zones

Just spent a few hours in sobago, trying a few missions and visiting the combat zones. I have taken out a fair few imperial ships and everytime I have done so I get a blue triangle in the top right hand corner of the hub, same as with bounties, but no text to go with it. Never get any combat bonds (is that the correct term?) and no other recognition for the kill anywhere I can see.

I have been a few times on combat missions and it seems the same.

Am I doing something wrong? Until now I have focused on trading and just doing this for practice combat.

Did you choose your side when you entered the zone (from right panel)?
After doing that one faction will appear red to you and you get 3k as combat bonds.
Remember to go to correct station to claim these.

Yeah it isn't very intuitive. Not sure if they've fixed it, but if you go into your functions tab on the right, and you can't select a faction, you need to log out and log back in, or jump out and jump back in to fix it. I haven't tried entering one since Gamma, so I'm not privy to whether or not that bug has been fixed.
