come and try out crowdwriting

Hi,
We are finally get the crowdwriting platform online for Elite Chronicles now.
It's www.readercrowd.com.
Before we officially launch it, we'd love to have some people to test it, have a bit fun with the Playbook area, and we'd love to hear feedback. Although, I might really struggle to fix some programming bugs myself. :S

Deadly, But very fluffy...
This looks very interesting and the playbook area i think will be fun, havnt time to do much now but will be back later to try it all out, looks a great site to! :)

Excellent work, Nice site design!
  • On page http://readercrowd.com/?page_id=150 dont open image http://elitechronicles.tk/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/schedule.jpg
  • On main page text and links different line-height: 1.4em for text and 1.7em for links

  • In columns "Featured", "Top Viewed" and "Top Rated" on the main page you are using full-size patterns. Because of this site long time to load (I have a slow link to the Internet). I would recommend to create miniatures specifically for these speakers.
  • As for the page Playbook - I could not easily understand what is at the top of the list of stories... Maybe to give them a bulleted or numbered list? And perhaps, to return underlining to it was evident that it links.
  • Perhaps you should make a two-column with links. In the left column to show a link that returns a back story, and the right column - options to continue the story.
Or another option - the top links that are returned to the previous chapter, in the center of the text of the current scene, and bottom options for the development of further events.

Having a wander around the site now, it's a little tricky to log in to the forum section as it looks like a separate DB for it's users, took me a bit to figure out you have to click 'login with readercrowd' once registered with the site and select the option from the right hand side of the popup.

If you can I'd add a quick FAQ to the registration email explaining that so that new users know what to do.

the only other things i noticed were the default profile image is missing and all the links on the footer (Contact/Credits/Partners/About) return to the home page as do the writers wiki and about links on the top menu, 'page not found' on every tab.

the 'Selected Stories' section has no images showing, the Playbook link in the left hand menu of the home page looks for page 154 but not found.

the Top 3 page is missing the image for out of the darkness but apart from that the rest of the page is ok.

after giving the site a bit of a beating i thought I'd save the praise until last, i love the 'Write' function with a summery section and chapter by chapter entry for fan authors, coupled with the ability to start a new book so you can work on several stories at once it makes the site something quite different.

EDit: and the search works, always a bonus ;)

Then you, we can say that you've explored the site, as an exploration within the confines of the galaxy. You met some Thargoïds / bugs.

Hi, AndyB
Thanks for your detailed feedback. Most stuff are actually sorted by now. :)
Unfortunately, I am not a programmer..... so things can be a bit hit or miss for me... most of the time. I really appreciate all the help and advices.
er... I will try to figure out how to add FAQ to the registration email.....

Tried it out

Okay - I tried it out. Seems to work well so I have started writing.

Small typo on the my book page, last update is not spelt correctly.

I noticed that when you go in to forum post it opens up the whole page in the frame, rather than loading the page.

Are you refering to click the link in the forum thread?
Initially, we are using vanilla forum to streamline all the comments in the forum, but it has been rather problematic (it automatically creates these post with links in), so I've removed the feature, it's now a basic forum with the same log in information.

More glitches.

Last update is also not spelled correctly on the book page you get to from eg the most viewed page.

The date presented as the last update in both pages is also strange, it looks more to me like a create date for the chapter than the last time the chapter was updated.

Cheers Kilvenny
