Come to PC if you can!

I did not have a PC to go to when PS support got dropped, needles to say i was angry and sad. Until i got hold of an old i3 4gig ram laptop with Win 10 and an HDMI out port- this is my platform now, al graphics go thru Nvidia’s GForce Now, full HD@60fps, straight into my tv. Runs like a peach, 10 bucks a month, happy camper

Forget that. Ps4 is where the hardcore commanders are. 120 a year to play ED. No.
The $120.00 a year investment, plus a time limit on how long you can play Elite Dangerous In a single session, was a deterrent to me. I am not being critical of people who want to play Elite Dangerous through GeForce Now. If they want to play the game that way then all the power to them and I fully support their decision.

As for myself, I would rather save my money and then purchase a high-end PC that could play Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. In fact, I could put the high-end PC on my credit card and simply pay $120.00 a month until the computer is paid off. Doing it this way not only allows me to play Elite Dangerous but also allows me to play games that are only on PC such as Eve Online or X4.

Must admit that was the same thought process I went through, but I came to the opposite conclusion.
£120 a year to play elite, (and a number of other games on steam, including eve and my other favourite, nebulous fleet command), or pay for a gaming PC that I would have to upgrade etc. Even if a PC cost £1200 that's still a decade worth of GFN. It's the other benefits of GFN that swung it for me, ability to play on my xbox via edge, play on my phone even with a mouse and keyboard connected.
I still sometimes cancel my subscription to GFN occasionally when I haven't the elite bug, but carry on when I want.

I started ED on PS4 and changed to PC this summer. Was the best decision; the ED experience is much better, not only the graphics. Apart from this, it feels like on console, because I‘ve plugged my laptop to the TV and I play with controller.

Laptop is an Asus TUF F15 with RTX 4600, which cost me a bit over 1000 euros. No need to prepare the PC for gaming, like installing drivers or setting up configs - I remember that when I last played on PC 15 years ago. Just download ED, log in, play, enjoy.

gfn does have the advantage of running far cooler in the summer eats less juice saves on device wear and tear (as pc's break down new psu,gpu etc
when you really weigh it up it dont seem like a bad deal i dont use it personnaly i got a 4090 rig but tbh was considering using it in the summer to save on air con cooling costs or risk the wear acossiated with running hot kit during the hottest months and runnin the pc winter were that saves on room heating costs as i like to run an efficient ship

Nay! - Bring the "live" game to "next gen" consoles, Frontier!! 😯😂🩲 .

I COULD play Elite and 1,000 other games on PC, IF I wanted to, but I don't because it's not my platform of choice! 😯😂🩲 .

Elite IS already on my family of systems of choice, Playstation - Frontier "just" chose not to bring its' latest expansion and content to our newer, more powerful system (and Microsoft's own), which can surely run the "live" game and 4.0, perfectly!

Indeed Frontier currently has EIGHT games on "next gen" consoles, with at least three and probably more of them running on the same engine as Elite, they "just" don't have Elite on "next gen" consoles, much to our disappointment! 😯😂🩲.

That could and should change and hopefully it will soon, maybe not long after Christmas! 😯😀🤘🤞 .

Lost heart when they abandoned PS4, but I did miss it.

Today I ordered a PC, I feel like a class traitor :)
I want to think you are a traitor but can't say I blame you. It is hard playing on console when you know that no new content is ever coming. But I'm enjoying the ax combat with my squad and finishing engineering unlocks that I abandoned so many years ago.

PC is where its always been at people for this game.
Not quite, elite was available for a myriad of machines, BBC micro, spectrum etc. There's been periods where it was pc only, Frontier and 1st encounters, I'd admit.
But then Elite continued it's early tradition of porting to other machines, Xbox then PS, and I believe that period was it's pinnacle where all gaming ecosystems were enjoying the single galaxy.

I only ever enjoyed BGS and since the split we've doubled our Systems compared to our PC group.

I would never migrate to PC, I've never played more Elite than I play right now. 🫡

I respect that.

For my part, I'd just been released from my self imposed challenge of Adder only until I reached Sag A, and built/engineered a Krait Phantom in Colonia for a grand expedition, when news of Odyssey dropped.

Decided to delay the journey until exobiology became available and returned to the bubble for community goals, squadron BGS etc. Console support dropping rather killed the dream, especially as account transfer at the time was credits only.

Just recently however, I heard via the YouTube algorithm of renewed content and support for the game, plus a real account transfer.

So here I am, 20k lightyears out of the bubble in a ship I built for the trip 3 years ago, plotting a long arc around the disc to end at Beagle Point (for now).

Didn't invest in the new gear (apart from an Artemis suit), that Phantom is going to get the journey she was built for, in her original design spec. Except for the plasma slug railgun, had to make that before I left (guess I didn't get around to that on PS5).
