Powerplay Coming Home 6 mo exploring The Black. Joining Power Play. A couple questions

Hello Commanders. I have been out in the black for MONTHS. Heading home. Missed the entire PP thing. Think I'm going to partake just because it seems fun. Will alternate some between PP and CQC. Since I am behind on understanding how it works I'd like to ask the community a couple questions. I am a jack of all trades player balanced probably like 50% combat, 25% trade, 25% explore (except my recent trip).

1 - Is it really worth choosing a Power that has the Leveled "special item"? As in ...some factions give you the boost to shields, some a special missile etc. Are those items really worth focusing on?

2 - I'm a casual player. Perhaps 2 hours a day. Can that get me to the $50m mark per week?

3 - In Power Play once I join a faction will I mostly just be picking up missions from stations? I like missions, so I'm guessing it will be a bit more fun. What else will I do?

4 - I enjoy pvp combat... will partaking in PP increase my pp encounters?

5 - Any other random advice you would like to share is appreciated.

Thanks!

Don't count on that 50m mark, it takes too long.
If you are going to join PP I suggest backing Denton Patreus so you can do Vulture with 2 large advanced PA's.

Depends on personal preference as seen in hs003's post - I'm not that fond of PAs. Imho only prismatic shields are worth it and only on larger ships. They're not OP, but they come in all sizes and are useful for some builds. Got the imperial hammer as well, but they're not really a huge improvement over regular rails. Pack hound missiles may be an improvement over regular missiles since they should be less affected by PD's, but then again missiles aren't all that viable in their current state and no one fits PDs due to that.

Not really with 2 hours a day, no - unless you pump a considerable amount of money into it in the beginning and have a big ship.

Missions sadly don't have anything to do with PP. What you do depends on your power. It usually involves killing ships in hostile control systems, shooting stuff in CZ-like zones or hauling stuff around.

4 - I enjoy pvp combat... will partaking in PP increase my pp encounters?

Probably yes.

i pledged to Zachary Hudson because it gives %20 bonus on bounty vouchers while at Rank 2 in control systems. (if He's 3rd, 2nd, 1st power, it will rise as %30, %40, %50 and currently he's 3rd) and i also do RES bounty hunting and i get bonus credits for it. If u like to gain money by bounty hunting in RES's, i can suggest Zachary Hudson.

The first question I would ask is do you care about the politics and values of each power?

If you do, then ignore stats and bonuses and go with what inspires you.

If not choose ALD. That where all the people who just want the most bonuses and stuff go and who has the best of everything.

Thanks guys, great info here! Ok, but a bit of confustion. Will I be doing missions for PP? It sounds like I will up above, then above that someone says you don't really do missions at all.

Give me an idea of what a RES huting and Combat Zone dude will do? Thanks guys.

No. PP tasks are separate from missions. For PP, you will either haul special goods picked up from a Powerplay Contact between systems, fight at special combat zones (available only for some Powers), or kill ships of hostile Powers in their territory (this is considered a crime and you will get a bounty on your head). You need to pick your actions by yourself, you won't be assigned any "mission" to do a specific thing.

Choose a Power with Combat ethos and fight on the special zones (called Crime Sweeps, Resistance Pockets, etc.).

Go hardcore and join the Kumo Crew.

We have no bonuses or benefits but do get loads (and loads and loads) of pvp practice!

Best of all though - we are a team.
