coming home

Well my fellow Explorers I'm coming home.
I have a little over 3 months to go to finish my 18 month trip.
In a way I don't even want to come back... but I know I cant test fate and luck beyond that time-frame.
I have an amazing hold of data.
I'm on pace for 21,000 systems. and I tend to scan quite a lot.
I think my payoff and my selling adventures in the bubble are going to be great and anxious fun (to say the least)
I realize exploration pay is craptastic or craptactular (you know what I mean) but I don't care.

I cant put into words how much I've loved everyday of doing this.

I cant post enough screenshots of my awesome times.

I will use this thread as my mark & progress (My old thread has long been buried)

I'm torn between wanting to stay out... But the scale tip's more to the excitement of braving the bubble and reporting my findings.

I'll bump this bi weekly.

Fly Safe and may you find great things.

18 months of data is too much crap to lose. Dump it in the bubble and off you go again.

If you've been scanning a lot then I'd say you'd be looking at 'Conda money. The worst part is going to be selling pages and pages of data. Put a good couple of hours aside for that lol. Not sure if they've changed it or not, having been playing for a couple of months.

I can feel every single words that you are saying
Welcome back Commander

18 months? Awesome!

Perhaps we should get a wing together and provide an escort to honor him back into the Bubble. Then with many many millions in exploration data I would certainly go Solo until I could find a station ASAP and sell it! Immersion is great but it only takes one opponent to lose it all! :)

I would be interested to know you what was your ship?

Regards and a proud o7 to you!

21000 systems, if my recollection of someone's calculations on average Cr/system is in the right ballpark, you're getting about 210 million from the data. Lots of scanning & 1st discoveries - the actual paycheck could be double that... :)

They increased the systems per page count from 20 to 50.

Yeah, solo & system with a station close by the HS exit point might be in order. :)

Or a PG (without salt miners) plus escort wing for those pesky NPCs.

Also don't tell your current position until you sell the Data! It is dangerous out there!

My ship is the Sagan Voyager 1041 (Asp Explorer. 32.4 LY jump range with a full tank.)

I will do the last 1k in solo mode and I have my cobra parked in a system at the edge of the bubble with a station very close to jump in. I've planed ahead for this.
Plus i plan to spend plenty of time practicing landing procedures in the tutorial.
Once I'm safely landed I'll sell a chunk of data there then break out the fast cobra and get a bunch of permits. I'm assuming selling data for permits still works?

After that I plan on Role Playing a 6 month repair and retro-fit for the asp. (engineer a FSD too)
I want to get an engineered Imperial Courier and take a 6 month nebula tour.

After that I may take the asp out on an even longer trip.

That would only be an average of 10k per system.
Exploration payouts must have been badly nerfed for it to be that bad.

Does anyone have a list of current payouts?

According to my spreadsheet as of Jan 21st I've scanned 20,408 High metal content planets alone... Not to mention all of the rest of the body's I've scanned.
I have 112 ELW's and ~1200 Water Worlds and at least half of those are TC..
And I'm at 1457 Neutron stars & 260 Black holes..

Anyways it's not really about the credits (well kind of hehe)

I have no idea about the permits or knew that was possible. An A-rated Imperial Courier will cost ~9.5M credits. With the Engineers it is one of the fastest ships in the game. I also KNEW you were in an Asp! I dialed in a long range Asp per this Loadout with simple engineering to my liking but I don't have the exploration desire you do! I would miss making friends in the Bubble. Still with engineering a Python which can now maneuver better than a stock Asp and hold every module plus more for exploration is now possible with the jump range you have in an A-rated Asp. Heck with the Engineers one could go in style with a Cutter! It is a brave new world in ED.

Update 2.3 with MAJOR editions to the game is about to go live Beta this week. That also probably means a few bugs with it. Get back to the bubble quick! :)

May 22nd is my return date. I've outlasted all the previous buggy updates so whats one more :p

The only bug I've ever been affected by was the neutron star fiasco however.

Valije that sound like fun. alas i don't have any idea how to make a poll.

IIRC the 10k average was someone's experience here. Might have been honk 'n' jump style though (scan only main star or not even that).

Just a quick thought experiment (average prices may be somewhat off :)):
ELWs+WWs: ~1400*50000 ~70M
HMCs: ~20400*12000 (or ~5400*30000 + ~15000*7000) ~250M
NSs: ~1500*50000 ~75M
BHs: ~260*60000 ~15.6M
Class II GGs: ~5000(?)*10000 ~50M
=> 460M

Yeah, like I said, with lots of scanning you will be gettin double the 10k average (or more). :)

And with lots of 1st discoveries you might be getting another 200M on top of that...

Thanks Zieman that's sounding a lot better.

@ Witzo yes, that's in my selling plan [up]

Fly safely Commander. May I suggest that, when you are fairly close to the Bubble you do two things; switch away from Open (you do NOT want any avoidable hostile actions against you) and practise the Landing training mission until you are comfortable (you do NOT want to crack up on the landing pad).

gratz, 18 Months sounds impressive but you made only 21k systems in that time?

My Board computer tells me I visited almost 5k within 2W 4D. How much "approximate time played" does yours show in 18months?
