Commander Name Change

Hello, all!

Just got into the Beta a few days ago, as a newcomer to the franchise. First post here, and just want to say so far that I LOVE what has been going on with this game so far! Sure, the game has its flaws, and it's a tad rough around the edges in some places, but overall, a very solid experience, and extremely impressed with the beta.

Anyway, on to the question at hand. I requested my CMDR name change over 3 days ago (on the 1st) and still haven't gotten it cleared yet. I've heard many people have gotten theirs done as quickly as 5 hours, and I'm wondering what gives? Is this a known issue with the team just being inundated with an extreme amount of name change requests with the beta recently opening up, or have I somehow fallen through the cracks? Sorry if this breaks some of the forum rules, but I didn't see this noted anywhere among common issues. I DID note that every name change request had been cleared at the end of July, though?

Hi, and welcome aboard! The people at FD are very busy (understandably), and some name requests have to be manually approved (I think), so it may take a while - patience is called for. Twenty-three skidoo, eh?

I think they all have to be done manually, yeah. I wasn't sure whether to bother with this post or not, but I figured after three days it was at least worth asking. Ah, well. Honestly, I was in love as soon as I looked at the right-side holopanel of my ship in the first combat training mission and noticed that the game had named my training ship after my PC (which I, in turn, took great deliberations in picking out a suitable name when I first built her four years ago). It was such a brilliant touch! Since then, I've been really eager for all the stations and my ship to be greeting me by my proper (Internet) name, haha. Seems like such a tiny thing, but it's FD's attention to all the tiny details that are making this such an absolutely fantastic experience.

EDIT: Also, that was the first time I'd ever heard that expression before, haha. My namesake has a really, really long history behind it, lol.

If it's any comfort, back when the first naming round was on, it took ages for my first-choice name to be disapproved!

Presumably because someone else had claimed it first - it just took ages for the widget to tell me.

It wasn't as straightforward way back then, and there were other conditions (which escape me now).
