Commander seeking passage to India, no I mean Colonia

Someday I would love to see the galactic core. I tried once. But after the 131st jump of 931 I completely lost it. I don't think I am alone in being psychologically unsuited to long distance exploration. If a boob npc can get to Colonia, why not us? I understand that it is vital to honor the work of Commanders who actually did all the work to get Colonia, so you could make the requirements very rigorous. Here are some suggestions:

1. Make it expensive: for example, 50,000,000 credits one way
2. Only the player and her credits are transported, no ships
3. During transport, the player is rendered comatose so is unable to log on for a period of days or maybe even weeks

Thank you.

Or when squad carriers comes out, hitch a ride.

That's what I plan on doing, running a shuttle service to Colonia - Sag A - and Beagle Point and back.

Squad carriers will have capital ship jump capability, it will take a week, but it will get you to Colonia in one jump :D

Honestly, I'm wondering how they will do that? I'm thinking you're probably right, it will be a timer based situation like ship transfer or something like that.

It sucks we will probably not be able to fly it like a normal ship and get on the bridge, and plot and jump it . But still I can't wait for it. I'd wish they give us more info on it soon.

Commanders flying other Commanders might be tricky. Would prospective peeps contact you via the forums? How would I pay you? My personality may not jive with yours and I could conceivably drive you nuts. No, correction. I would drive you nuts. Would you then be able to disable all communication with me during transit? Eject me? Hmmmm, that could be really humorous. I would then have to bribe someone to rescue my escape pod. Hey, that may be a way to permanently ban players... What if pirates decided to run shuttle services? There would be jettisoned Commanders all over the place; that kinda sounds fun, though. Wouldn't scooping marooned Commanders be a great CG?

That's what airlocks are for...space suits optional!

Seems 2 me, that there is not a problem to visit Colonia using the traditional way. It may be done in three days after new account, if using Internet manuals. Purchace a simple Hauler, and fly a 300 LY expedition. Scan planets, etc, add rep with Farseer and collect money. Next, look 4 two-three materials & signals, create a good FSD, install AFMU in your ship and learn to use N-stars. I can make a relaxed flight to old bubble in 5 hours using DBE. Very quick men are doing this in 4hours >

Well, I am one of those Commanders, who are simply jumping challenged. I am 52 and don't tolerate doing repetitive tasks very well, even for a very reasonable 5 hour jump to Colonia. Some Commanders may think nothing of 25 jumps; that's not me. Jump, Scoop, Honk , Jump, Scoop, Honk, Jump, Scoop, Honk, ... crash into star..... YUCK. On the other hand I think nothing of shooting down 25 pirates whilst other Commanders very much dislike combat. I have considered doing the passage to Colonia over a 10 day period. Once a day for 30 minutes is a possibility for me. Then I would also, finally, unlock Prof. Palin....sigh.... However, to make matters worse, I would have to do the same to return to the Bubble. I'm just too darned lazy and there are other things I very much prefer to do than to watch the temperature of my ship. For the moment I will have to be content watching Mr. Ant's videos.

That seems to me also, really I don't mind if it takes me a week, I'm not in a hurry and there's plenty to see on the way, but there are people who hate the jump honk with a passion and can't seem to pass the time with exploration, hence the number of "fast travel," "star gate," "wormhole shortcut" and "extended jump range" threads we get all the time. Some people just want to get there without having to do all that and complain loudly when they can't, so there may be a mrket for that.

Try to use neutron jets - it's not a "repeatable task" indeed. Every jet is at least, slightly different and these beasts are keeping in tonus well enough. Use https://www.spansh.co.uk/plotter , and do not forget about AFMU and materials for recharging. My first neutron way from Colonia was this https://www.spansh.co.uk/plotter/re...ficiency=65&from=Colonia&range=49&to=LHS 3447
DBE and Conda are better now - during the first Colonia CG I was a complete noob with jets and Felicity was not rolling FSD good enough... Hm, it started more, than 1 year ago already...
By the way! Install the best possible fuel scoop. During CG I was using 6A for Conda - cargo space was needed. If using 7A - you may scoop during quick flying around the star.

Thank you, Commander dAlexis, if I start playing again I will definitely try Neutron star jumping; those stars are so beautiful. I have bookmarked your links. Peeps have been very kind to me to show me how. My very first encounter with a Neutron star was a shocker .... I got fried. But I LOVED it! I think I better practice first with my Sidey.

You're a youngster. I'm 58 and I've just arrived in Colonia in an unengineered Asp explorer. It's taken weeks but there are some nice views.

Cheers,
Mark

48... 2 weeks later will be 49. Just a baby... :D
Reminded, how it was 1 year ago... Searched 4 old CG results pictures... The number - 2367 tn was transferred by me to Colonia from old bubble (LHS 3447) in 1 month.

I will never sell this ship!
