Horizons Comment on Passenger Missions

I started playing one week before Horizons released. Liked the game then dropped it. Came back maybe 6 months later and worked myself into a Vulture and went crazy doing Res Sites and Combat missions. "Have Ship Will Shoot!"
Put the game down again and came back a week ago. I did some shootin and some Mining and some missions. Then I see this Passenger Tab. Wow, the money is pretty good in these, so I reconfigure my Asp Explorer and git to it!

For the last 36 hours, (REAL TIME, NOT GAME TIME) I have been doing Passenger missions. This is my first experience in makin lots of credits. Better than RES or Combat for me at least.

Today, I just spent 3 hours doing my first Medium range and Most expensive Mission so far. It was 4.5 million credits and about 3 hours round trip time. I can tell you that after looking at those 50 million credit Passenger missions that are 20k light years away...... NO WAY!!! Unless you want bragging rights, or just like getting out there in Deep Space fine then, but if you want cash then stay close to home and do the less expensive quickie missions.

I wanted an FDL so badly just for the ego stroking. Now my mind keeps drifting towards an Orca with three Cabins, weeeeeee!!

I just made 4.5 million creds in 30 minutes of game time doing three missions close to home. This will also gain you more Reputation and Influence faster.

This is my take, (Time + Risk) -vs- money earned. Much easier to do the 1 million credit missions that take just a few minutes than doing the 50 million credit missions that take DAYS.

Yep, I noticed my explorer rank going up nicely along with my Merchant rating. Ima Broker now and raised a level in Exploring as well. I can actually do a ship build and realize im not just dreaming. kekekek.

I should add that once you reach allied status with a particular faction, their missions no longer seem to give you progress to the next rank in explorer (trader too, I assume). Not 100% sure but if you notice no percentage progress, that'll probably be the reason.

BTW, if you get bored with the passenger missions, I've found this site is about 98% reliable for selection systems for real exploration missions within the Bubble, and you're never too far from a station. It's not the Road to Riches, but your comfort level is higher, I think.
