Horizons Commodities at Stations

Hi Folks :)

I'm a bit confused as to what's happening at certain stations in some systems.
For example, at one system in the area I'm currently playing in, a few days ago, a station had a few thousand items of a commodity for sale.
I went back there recently and it wasn't even listed in the commodity menu!

I've been writing down in a hard copy list, similar to the menu list in the game which I've created, I can run off (print) several copy's which means I only have to write down the items/commodity on the page for each station that I regularly trade with in the relevant commodity box.
I also use the Inara web site, which is on my IPad, as I find this has a reasonably up to date data base for commodities in the game, so I can access this whilst playing.

Question is, what's happening here?...is this a bug, or is it because the game is still being worked on in some systems?
I've also used the in game map feature for finding commodities, but it either doesn't work properly or it's inaccurate! [blah]

down to either faction change or more likely a faction state change. Boom, war, lockdown etc etc can all affect the items on sale at the commodities market. It can be highly annoying/frustrating, especially if you had missions pending from the previous time you played but once you work it out you can also use it to your advantage.

The most likely cause is that the station has a mixed economy - e.g. Industrial+Extraction - where one side of the economy produces the good, and the other side consumes it.

In some BGS states, the production exceeds consumption and the surplus goes on sale. In others, consumption exceeds production - but not by enough to make the station start to import the good. HE Suits are particularly bad for this - they're only produced by High-Tech, most High-Tech economies are mixed with Refinery, and Refineries get through a lot of HE Suits. So there are only a few hundred stations in the entire game that have a surplus of them.

If you say which station and good, I can give you more specifics.

I've also used the in game map feature for finding commodities, but it either doesn't work properly or it's inaccurate!
My experience is that it'll tell you if a station has an economy producing a good, but because it doesn't mention quantities, it doesn't tell you if the other side of the station economy has already bought them all.

Hi Folks :)

Thanks for the input and information [up]
It seems at the moment that even using the Inara website information, commodities are forever changing in some situations. For example, I was using Inara to find Performance Enhancers in the area I'm playing in. It listed a station I'm familiar with and I had a sneeking suspicion this wasn't true. Sure enough the station didn't stock them. I had a hard copy of a station that I'd written down what commodities they stocked and this proved true for Performance Enhancers (a few thousand).
Inara website did not list this station although it was within roughly the same range as the familiar station I mentioned earlier.

Anyway, it's not a big issue, I'm trading/playing on the very edge of the bubble, and built up a good reputation with most of the stations in a fairly wide field of the area. There's not many players out here, in fact on a few of the stations I'm the only regular visitor!:)

Thanks once again for all your input, cheers.:D

Sites like Inara, EDDB and the like, relies on players updating their database with information, for PC players this can be fairly simply to accomplish, you just need a little agent that scans your Elite Dangerous logs (there are several to choose from), but there is no such tools for console players.
