Horizons Commodities BLACK MARKET

G'day all,
I was watching a very interesting ED video this evening, where it was suggested that ED could use the Black Market at each station to buy and sell commodities required for engineer modifications. This would also add interest to the pilots who have excess commidities, as well as those that salvage and attack other ships for cargo.

It would alleviate the need for commanders to have individual storage for the items they carry, as well as providing a much easier supply and demand.... at a price of course...

Such a new mechanic would get rid of the terrible grind we are required to do to find, obtain, mine the commodity as it is at the present.
Your thoughts please.

The requirement of Commodities for Engineers are being removed in the next update.

Materials will remain. I presume you are referring to the materials also. I found it hard going to source enough arsenic on planets, especially with a bug in the SRV scanner at times. To be able to purchase this simple material at a black market would be a great idea and really helpful. As also for all the other stuff, of course.

The Black Market at present in ED doesn't live up to its name as currently implemented - it is a one-way "sell stuff" market and the game as a whole would benefit from its revision.

Black market is really for illegal goods etc, it's not really a commodities dealer for engineering mats. If anything, this should be a completely separate dealer. I would personally like to see an engineering dealer who specialises in the commodities for engineers. Maybe few and far between but would allow you to buy the stuff you need and sell the stuff from missions you don't want, even if it is pretty expensive to do so, very low sell prices and high buy prices.

I agree that the Black Market should be revised for buying and selling, the trade in such items goes both ways. However, I also think a lot more could be done to improve the way goods can be smuggled in.
Utility mounts are really under-used and a scan scrambler could be added to smugglers ships to delay scan results by authority ships long enough to get away, hit it when the "scan detected" warning comes up to double the remaining time it takes authorities to scan your cargo. ie: If a scan takes 10 seconds, hit it after 5 and it gives you 15 seconds total, hit it as soon as the warning appears and it gives you 20 seconds. It won't scramble it completely but it does give you more time to dock if you're scanned on the way into the station some distance from the letterbox. The same applies going out, it gives you time to get out of mass lock range and jump if you're scanned on the way out. It doesn't help much for big and slow ships but smugglers don't use them, they'd go for fast and agile ships.

G'day
thank you both for your input.
My thoughts were echoing the video I saw which was to use the all ready Black market as a mechanic to buy and sell engineers required items. The video recommended using the Black market store mechanic instead of setting up a complete new one which would take time, But yes we certainly could use and Engineers store to sell our excess items and purchase what we need. I for one have done countless jumps to search for this and that, as no doubt many of us have.

Tyrst,
what a sterling idea, keep pushing for it as it's a great item for the professional smuggler to have, an even an item I would purchase and install for those odd smuggling missions i would like to do.
Yours aye
