Can the purchase price for commodities vary from station to station in the same system?

Yes, that is possible.

You can sometimes make reasonable profit trading within a system. Not great, but some.

Yes and as above the mixed economy system sometimes can be very useful.

Good old Eravate is a good example. There is reasonable cash to be made between the hub and ackerman market, until you realise it's actually quicker to jump to another system than slog all the way out to ackerman
