Commodity trading, shopping spree and UI

Greetings CMDRs,

some time ago ED got trading UI changes. Unlucky for me I was past Colonia when that happened, taking advantage of previous exploration changes. With little forum help I managed to quickly return to the Bubble, dusted off my Anaconda and went in search for lucrative trade routes for fame and glory. But mostly credits. Found pretty nice loop, about 5M profit per circle. Quickly I realized that 450-ish cargo space isn't enough.

Since I wanted to strike 2 birds with one rock I decided to buy Federal Corvette. I know, I know, there are better ships with more cargo space for real trucking. But I wanted Corvette and Corvette I bought. 548t was an upgrade and my profit grew. Then my source route started to dry out and I searched for new place to exploit. Here comes the lack of in-game UI. Sure, we can now compare prices with other markets and see if we loose or profit and approximetly how much. Very handy indeed but there's a catch - you need to visit given station first. So essentially new tool, prety nifty but in reality totally unusable due to restrictions. Unless you spend whole day flying in the area and visiting every potential station to gather data.

Buying trade data also doesn't work, why should it. I tried. Picked target station, "buy data" unavailable. And when it's available it doesn't work. Or I don't understand how it works. I bought the data but sitting at the source station and trying to set newly purchased info to comparison tool - search says no data available. So EDDB and Inara once again. Not to mention it requires less clicks to check anything. Few minutes later I had whole thing set up.

Once again it turned out I need more cargo space. I was reluctant to buy anything bigger (Cutter is my final reward for fulfilling my personal goals so currently not an option) but I broke - and bought T-9. Slightly over 750t and now we're talking. Compared to Corvette it handles like wet brick, Corvette feels like dancing. Anyway, it's not a nible fighting I'm expecting from that ship, but large cargo space and it works just fine.

Since my original route died, I believe I finally delivered enough Basic Medicines for them to end outbreak, I had to find other. Not far from where I was I got 3 system triangle loop which gives me 10.5M of profit. Acceptable but I wouldn't complain if it be even more. I know that best incomes are from Python but there is something in bulk trading. Trying to play with Inara to pinpoint those lucrative loops but so far i had 12k profit per tone, now dropped to 9k.

At least credits flow is steady and my trading rank got bit higher.

Are you set on doing simple bulk trading only or also up for stacking transport missions? From my personal experience the profit margin is quite a bit higher, if the systems are in appropriate states and you're allied.

Currently set on bulk only. Before my big exploration trip I was doing delivery missions alone but couldn't find enough missions to fill my 450t Anaconda. And flying mostly empty is no fun. I suplemented my deliveries with commodity stuff but single trip was giving me just few hundred thousands. And I always wanted to try "real trade", buy low, sell high. Another thing is pirates - delivery missions have higher chance of having a tail, commodity runs I so far had like 4 or 5 over the past week, so minimal.

As for the allied, I tend to jump randomly between stations where commodity prices are high so I'm mostly low on rep. I may get to allied as far as as prices remain steady long enough. This was the case of my previous spot - I was hauling so much medicines and earning 5M a pop so i got to allied. Sadly those places I'm in are weird and there are no intresting missions, apart from wing missions and caro values of 5-7kt.

I would strongly advise against stacking supply/delivery missions in a T9. You will get an impressive string of Deadly Anacondas lining up to interdict and ruin your day.

Granted, most of the time I use the Cutter for those, but the T9 also worked for me so far for short missions, you only need to properly bump up the defenses. It mainly gets tedious to escape all the time.

So far, granted my limited flight time, I didn't have much issues with avoiding interdictions. True - it takes significantly longer than any other big ship I had but I managed to do it every time. Problem will be when I'll fail since mine T-9 is unarmed and jusr 5D shields...

Try mooching some 5A Prismatics off Anime Space Princess, best-in-slot for trading vessels. Add 2x heavy 2x resistant boosters. Put some heavy HRPs in the smaller slots.
