Newcomer / Intro Comms Channel Upper Left HUD???

Hello,
Like the title suggests, How does one access that panel to chat/receive mail??? I see 9 messages next to the envelope icon and I cannot fathom how to open/read?
Can someone answer what is probably a really rookie noob question lol?

Default button is, IIRC, "2" (i.e. the numerical 2 on the top row of the keyboard). Depending on what controller(s) you are using and what bindings you messed up changed manually, it could be anything.

I'm sorry...I guess I should have mentioned that I'm on the PS4...Is this screen accessible there? Thanks for your reply regardless. It's nice to see such an active forum for an older game. I guess the "meta" is strong here, which is what I am hoping for as a new player ;-)

I suspect on the PS4 you have to press "UI Focus" and "UP". (Just guessing.)
