COMMS Messages . . . from Human players . . . while in SOLO mode??

:S Is it a bug that I was receiving COMMS chat messages today, from human players, when none of us were in the same instance (I checked the bandwidth) . . . and we were all playing in SOLO mode???

Several of us all going "Huh? What's going on? Aren't I in SOLO mode?"

God dammed soloists.....I left solo because of all the noise they make, talking through my headphones and not even stopping when I take them off, now I have to put up with it again.

I think it is, I dimly recall it being mentioned in a livestream and they wouldn't do that for a bug.

The thing is, there is no real solo mode.
Not in the sense that you are alone in the game world.
The "modes" are merely social filters, they only determine who you can and cannot see.
ED has only one actual mode, and that's online mode.

Just goes to show there isn't really a solo mode. Either you're able to instance with other players or they are filtered out. Private groups are just playing Open with a fixed list of people.

3.3 introduced "system chat" - system wide chat across all modes. I think the squadron chat is cross-mode too.

Everything else should be the same (not cross-mode).

LIterally the first thing I saw from system chat was a homophobic slur.

Turned that nonsense off immediately and will never, ever turn it back on.

Like no-one saw that coming.
