COMMUNICATION

I'd like to suggest that news about ED actually appears in the News forum. Twitter announces update 9 is out tomorrow( I found this news in a group on FaceBook). Is there anything in the official forum about update 9, no there isn't. I assume I might find some info in the live streams or twitch or where ever you're putting it these days. I don't have time to follow all your various channels and I dare say I am not the only one. Not asking you duplicate all the stuff but it'd be helpful if you could post links to it in the official forum.

yes there is

yes there is

Indeed, I'd just located that after making my post. However the title doesn't really grab your attention when you are specifically looking for info on update 9. Previously such announcements were clearly titled making it easy to locate them. Can you tell me were all the other info regarding update 9 can be located.

For a start in the release notes when it drops I would suggest. But there'ss been a tremendous amount of discussion here, online and twitch streams about update 9 and following updates like Fleet Carrier interiors, even I, and I don't really follow any media except the forums, knows about the new SRV, coloured planetary lighting, fixes to bugs and etc that have been discussed in various places, oh and the screenshots. If you are interested in the update you look for it, that's basically how it works, there's no meta-link on the forums pointing to all the various discussions and mentions of update 9 across all media, that doesn't happen unless a forum member decides to do it.

So are you happy with the status quo or do you agree that the place for communicating news about the game should be in the forum entitled News and Bulletins. Currently it's all over the place in twitter, twitch, youtube and facebook. Personally I don't have the time or the inclination to go hunting around the internet for news. I'm willing to bet there's a fair few complaints going around about not being able to log in this morning from casual players who didn't get the message.

Why? It's well known that Thursday is server maintenance day (every Thursday by the way), they did announce it on Monday and again an hour before the server went down. There were almost certainly warnings in game leading up to the down time, and announcements on most other social media platforms.

Other than "sending the boys" round to your door to announce that today at 0900 UTC there was gonna be a patch I'm not sure what else they could do for you.

Not all players (in fact I'd wager that most players) don't use the forums so they have to announce everywhere.

It was, in both Arf's holiday message and the community schedule, so two different places.

If we wanted to focus on merely reaching the majority of our players with communications, then we probably wouldn't post on the forums at all. The audience on social tends to be far bigger. I would certainly recommend keeping an eye on the weekly schedule posts moving forward as that will always contain what you need. Any information about Updates will also be on the forum before they're actually in-game.
