Newcomer / Intro Communique from the sector ranking Naval Officer ?!?

Hi,
I've decided to try climbing up the ranks of Fed Navy and after receiving an invitation to a system (permit) I moved to the said system and I'm waiting for the Naval officer to transmit me the communique. Did some missions from BB but nothing to resemble anything official. Any tips or advices about this?

I'm currently having the same issue. Got the Beta Hydri permit... went there... nothing. No missions at all in fact.
Just an unobtainable one saying that I already have the Beta Hydri permit and to go to Beta Hydri.

Erm... I'm here. Still nothing.

Nothing will happen. It's a dead end. There is no follow on.

Well. You got your system pass.

Though if it's anything like Summerland (the first pass you get in the Empire) there is not much to see when you get there

Yeah, not much to see... and they're clearly too lazy to share food between starports here, because they were crying out for grain in one starport, and the other had loads. Easy mission lol

For some reason though, under unobtainable missions (because I already have the permit) it is still telling me to meet the Naval guy here. Quite irritating haha.

You get the system permit after accepting the mission but that's all there is to them (right now, at least). Maybe it's open-ended for future expansions, but for now you just get the permit and move on with other things. There's no reason to even go to the target system unless you really want to.

The system permit is a small perk... the more important one is the Federal Rank increase

Some systems give perks - Vega for Federation has a rare commodity to trade. Sol so far is my favorite controlled bounty hunting ground. Main benefit, as I think it was intended, is to kind of force you to migrate from system to system. You need to do missions for DIFFERENT minor factions under the major faction to keep getting progression missions.

But yeah, wish there was more to the permits than just the bragging rights.
