Community challenge concerns and suggestion for improvement

People are comparing these to puppy mills, and it is and it isn't. There NEED to be breeding programs, and these animals that are so endangered need new blood in their breeding pool. Having large amounts of these creatures bred is a good thing.

HOWEVER, I feel there needs to be some sort of quality control. I have seen so many of the target animal (tigers and now gorillas) on the market that are OBVIOUSLY inbred. I think inbred animals should not count as these do NOT help the species. I also think it would be cool to have community challenges where the goal was like "creature x is very susceptible to disease in the wild, we need hardy individuals to bolster the gene pool" and say we have to release animals of that type with an immunity gene of 80+ or something.

What can I say? People are jerks. It's why I don't play franchise mode. You're trying to start a new zoo, get a few animals and the marketplace is flooded with animals that are severely overpriced and you can't afford a breeding pair of anything. So... you're forced to farm conservation points by farming exhibit species and that's just no fun. There's not really any good way to make people who want to be jerks... well... stop being jerks.

You cant sell exhibit species for cc. But the price isnt the problem. It's the quality. I've seen one gorilla with a genetic medal (usually bronze) for every 50 inbred ones

As a newish franchisee, I have 300CC. My tapirs died so their best daughter is in storage and I went to market to find a male for her. Filtered results got me a single result, for 4,500 CC. No $ animals at all. I filtered to show all cash price animals. No hits. Waited 5 mins, hit refresh, no hits.

Surely buggy servers rather than working as intended?

Right next to the refresh list button is a little heart. Click it in and then off again. Try your search again and see if you have any luck. It worked for me when I had that issue. Though this doesnt have to do with my topic ='(

I definitely agree that inbred animals should have a prominent marker on the market, Better still add an option to filter out inbred on the market and make that the default setting. Once peoples inbreds stop selling, they will stop flooding the market with them and release them into the wild instead, which will have the bonus effect of less stress on the market servers.

EDIT: I also like your community challenge ideas. It's still a new game, many of us are still getting to grips with the basics of breeding. I'm sure the more creative challenges will appear soon.

I agree, any community challenge should have quality control. Isn't Frontier's point of genetics is to try and encourage people to breed better animals? But right now there's zero reason to, when inbred animals count just as much for the community challenge.

It could even be as low as 25% fertility and that would still cut out like 75% or more of the inbred animals on the market. Teach people to pay more attention to what they're breeding if they want the rewards.

I don't think inbred animals should be able to be sold. FD made clear during the promotion for this game that inbreeding is a wholly negative thing (which, funnily enough, it is) so players should not be rewarded for allowing it to happen. This whole mode though is completely and utterly broken though with regards to economics, it's absolutely mad.
