community goal rewards

I'd engage more in the CG's if the rewards were unique: decals, paintjobs, permits, rare & custom modules or weapons...

i do like that some of them involve changing the type of station, or expanding to new colonies etc. but unless i have vested interest in the factions involved it doesn't make me want to head over and haul metals...

what would inspire you to get more involved?

If tier 1 rewards were visible off the bat.
IMHO this is why the mining CG bombed so hard - nobody was willing to put in effort on a geberally unprofitable and clumsy activity when they had no idea if their efforts would yield any result. Then there was a catastrophic despair spiral as basically everyone realized we wouldn't hit tier 1 anyway and everybody bailed.

I would hope that CGs in general had the draw necessary to pull people away from stereotypically profitable activities and try something new, and if ybey fail to do tjat tjen they feel more like weird artificial rewards for stuff you'd probably have done anyway, instead of a cool incentive to try something different.

I like that the devs are stretching their legs with the community goals lately, but like you said about the mining goal, not every goal is going to be successful. Especially if it's an activity that, granted was improved a little with the limpet drone feature, isn't very fun/exciting and profitable like the other professions. I personally like the goals with combat zones, and it's been a little while since we've had one.

I think rewards like decals or maybe even limited paint jobs would be an awesome addition to the usual module or ship discount, though I'd highly doubt it would happen because paint jobs currently are a form of income for the devs. Who knows, though. Maybe if it were an epic battle between the major factions, we could get a special paint job or decal as a sort of "medal of honor" for participating. I'd prefer that to a multi million credit pay-out.

Just show all the tier rewards and needed amount from the get go. If they are good enough, people will flock to it. People are not going to bother with the current all or nothing trade CG because you spend a lot of time working for potentially bad reward.
