We have a lot of barren planets out there. Why not have a CG to build the first intergalactic racetrack for SRVs and/or canyon racing *tunnel tracks* for small ships.

Somewhere for the cool kids to hang...

Unfortunately the guy who was running it has quit Elite. Apparently another member of the Buckyball Racing Club is supposed to be taking over the running of this ongoing event but I'm not sure about the current status of that.
