Community goals are nice but...

Hello everyone.

I had never tried community goals until today. I decided to try the merchant one and sold my combat Vulture for a T7. I've been to Diso as a merchant and sold machineries.
However I met really nice people doing large amount of piracy in group.
A group of 3 intercepted my T7 and killed me... to get my worthless water purification cargo. Cargo they didn't scan before attacking and that couldn't fit in their combat vessels. Happened 2 times and 3m insurance (aka +-= 2 game hours) starts to be annoying.
I think it is a shame because community goals should be a way to meet people but the only way I have found to continue making money while participating to a community goal is to work for it using solo online mode. And I think it's sad.

What are your thoughts about that ? Do you have other ways ? Is insurance cost too high for you too to be risked in community events meetings ?

Having pirates intercept you and your cargo is still "meeting people". :D :p

Sounds too me like these people simply tried to stop "your side" from gaining ground in the CG. All part of the game...

Try to wing up yourself with others that can escort you! :)

Yes...I guess you could go into SOLO...but where's the challenge in that? ;)
 
As I'm sure has been said many times, CG goals need some complexity added. No doubt FD are considering options.

Adding escort and intercept goals to trading CG events would help a lot.
 
Solo or group never mind the losers and complainers a real life game.... erm...... solo it...... all changes soon..........
 
The escort solution is nice on paper (and on roleplay) but I think that the technical part of wings are too limited now to be viable. I explain:
I am a T7 transport with 2 vultures as escort. As we travel to the CG target, we all have full cargo (200 me and maybe 20 the others). The problem is that they don't win a lot of money of it : escort members earn only their small cargo profit and 5% of my profit (wings) and their participation to CG is not strong enough to make them reach high levels.

Do you think that the ability to set EVERY profit one wingmen do be shared with other wingmen as a selectable option in the wing menu could be a nice option ?
 
The problem with escort and wings is that profit is not shared equally between carriers and escorters. They can at best earn 5% of the carrier profit (wing ability) and the little cargo profit they make.
Do you think that a full profit share option in the wing settings could be a nice addition ? Why not a full loss share on demand too ? (if carrier gets destroyed, its wingmen friends can pay a part of insurance costs IF THEY WANT)
 
I did have the same thing happen to me, I get interdicted by a player and 2 others drop in, they start shooting, no questions asked. None of them could mass lock so I just boosted off, 4 pips into shields and frame shifted drive'd out of there.

Happened twice.
