Community Goals open overload

Anyone taking part in a CG will most probably do them in PG or Solo unless they are looking for PvP, or a challenge, which is a shame but understandable as these systems become a focus point for gankers, griefers, pirates and people generally looking to fight. A simple solution would be to have more CG's happening at once, this would disperse the threat and possibly bring more players into open for a slightly less challenging option. This would also spread out the people taking part so some alteration in the CG target may be needed, but it would help in the overload sometimes of instancing with to many cmdrs in one system.

I understand these systems give the folk looking for pvp a focus point and don't want to take that away from them, so maybe there could be some way of providing a focus point for this away from the CG's or included in some way (don't know how)?

I enjoy doing CG's, and mostly I will do them in open, but sometimes there are just so many CMDR's looking to pirate me, kill me for no reason, ram me at a station (what mind set is this!!?) that it really makes it no fun, and switching at this point is the only option. So just thinking of options.

What do you think?

Sir how very dare you castigate Pirates in the same sentence as Gankers and Griefers. Pirates want your cargo not to kill you.

I am deeply hurt and demand 10% of your cargo immediately,, damn, sorry role playing again!

Lifes like a box of chocolates, those damn inconsiderate traders, they just know not if the next encounter will be legitimate piracy or just ram/gank/grief. ;)

The OPs idea sounds like a fair one to me.

Take a 400m/s unarmed Imperial Cutter with engineered shields over 3000Mj.

Then when people fail to kill you and you low wake out all chilled out you then post to everyone in Local that "cmdr X is so bad they can't kill an unarmed ship". This will attract everyone and you'll suffer for a bit but they'll soon realise you are too fast/shielded for them and can escape any masslock factors.
In subsequent runs just post a "Hi all" as they ignore you because you arn't worth the trouble.

Also during certain timezones the number of these players out to kill other players is dramatically reduced. Mobius is another option if you still want it to feel multiplayer.

I think I've completely misunderstood your entire point here.

You like doing CGs, and you want to do them in open, but too many players go to CGs, so you have to do them in solo?

What you would like are more CGs at once, so you can do them in open and not see other players?

I think he wants a manageable level of opposition rather than a Reaver style horde and he wants some more classy opposition rather than those that just want to watch people explode (station ram-scam to use his example).

I don't think it's terribly difficult to understand.
Humans are social animals. They prefer to be in groups rather than alone.

Personally, I get a buzz out of just being around a bunch of other CMDRs, waiting to dock, seeing each other come and go out of a station, discussing what stuff is a good buy at a station or what upgrades you've had done at an engineer etc.

Nothing against a bit of respectable piracy either.
When you get the sort of chaos that occurred in Andhrimi last night, though, I'm just gonna switch to solo.

Had a player FDL try to stop me once.... scans showed he'd make mincemeat of me so I pulled the brave Sir Robin manouver

Guess he had the ship and the guns.... but could'nt cope with an AspX doing 470 in silent running while dumping heatsinks :p

Jumped out with no shields, and 10% hull gone

'Making it to the station with a bunch of holes held together with duct tape is still a succesful mission' [squeeeee]

If you can still be killed by the station while goign under 100ms then thats still an exploit that needs to be patched and is a seperate issue.

I think you are wrong with the rest of your statement, maybe the OP can let us know, he said
"which is a shame but understandable as these systems become a focus point for gankers, griefers, pirates and people generally looking to fight."

which sounds to me like he wants 0 opposition, which he can already get in solo.

I had a great time at the CG, and I imagine so did this guy who made it through the gauntlet

Bad idea. For me a CG is the only secure point in finding real commanders. This universe is very empty. If you start to stretch the CG CMDR community as well, then good bye. I bought this game for multiplayer purposes, not boring PvE repetitiveness.

Some of us get enough repetitive PVP with LCD personalities in IRL and find PVE here a delicious break

Maybe GTA5 is the guyme for you, awesome vehicle mechanics with ganker galore nd cargo theft. Also you wont be lonely there.

I guess it depends what you do when you meet real commanders.
If you just want to destroy them, I'd be quite happy for you to go.

What's wrong with murder? Random killing is an intended part of the game.

OP wants less PK'ers? I say he needs to GIT GUD.

You're right, you do completely misunderstand.

It's always funny how written text is taken in so many different ways. People take from it only a snippet that they want.
It's not about me, for starters, is about cgs in general

I think yer gonna have this thread trolled into the ground...thats what I think. I also think what yer looking for is mobius or solo.

Its actually a decent idea but wont get any traction because there are those who like shooting fish in a barrel...fer them, things are quite alright as they are...or they would be if they could entice more players to be targets. Which is why yer reasonable suggestion will fail...this is like spreading too little butter on a big slice of bread and the pew pew players wont like it one little bit.

Personally, if I was to do a cg, it would only ever be in solo...because of the last time I tried a cg in open...similar experiences I would assume. Just accept it and adapt ^

Oh the old get good comment...has to be one, don't you just love these small minded replies.

Y'see, this is the sort of "lowest common denominator" logic that can end up ruining an online game.

If a thing is possible in a game then some people will do it and the only way to counter that thing is to indulge in the same thing yourself, which means you can't do other things instead and it ends up with that thing being the only thing you can safely do in the game.

Which is why there's always a "best gun" to have in multiplayer FPSs and a "best car" to have in multiplayer acing games etc.

Trouble is, in an FPSs and racing games, there's only ONE objective and everybody's trying to achieve the same thing so it's not such a big deal.
In a game like ED, where some people might be traders, some people might be miners and some people might be explorers, if the only way to ensure your survival is to "git gud" at PvP then I'm afraid all those other facets of gameplay are going to have to go and we're all just going to have to buy tooled-up FdLs and shoot at each other for a few months, until we find a different game.

Its a troll post ye need to ignore...replying at all is feeding into the tangent that they want to take it into, which eventually gets the thread locked. If ye cant or wont troll them right back, then just ignore them, otherwise it escalates. I did warn such a thing would happen on my post...seen it many many times.

Wouldnt worry too much...the author has been a self proclaimed pirate fer all of 2 weeks, with all sorts of threads appearing here there and everywhere. Ignore them and keep the discussion civil...thats what they dont want...something worth bearing in mind ^
