Community Goals

Hello Fellow CMDRs,

So according to the PS4 FAQ, the Dev team wants to be able to meld the windows, xbox, and ps4 playing experience, but it most likely won't happen. So does anybody know how community goals are going to work then?

As they work now, the CGs will be across all 3 platforms and every commander on each platform will be able to play the CGs and affect them. You just won't instance with PC or Xbox players. Everyone on all 3 platforms will affect the Background Sim (BGS).

So its just as it works now for Xbox and PC.

it will work as its working right now with pc and xbox
CGs aren't a thing that needs to be crossplay, its just grinding (most of the time), so, it will work like always

You may already know this, but in case not, PC, XBox, and PS4 share the same galaxy. Whatever I do on a PS4 that influences what's called the Background Simulation (BGS) will affect all players equally. This tends to be market prices, the status of planets (is a planet in a famine, for example), the power different factions have over a system, and so forth.

What we don't share is peer-to-peer networking which is needed so we can all fly together. It's weird, because I can be landing at the same station and the same time as an XBox player, and we won't see each other, but our actions at the station can impact the same system and we'll both see the results.

Duck you're in the states right? Instead of discord I can just run a string to your house and we can use cans to talk. Unless you are north of the border.

It's just real time so nice to be able to chat like that. Not compulsory. But it's quite busy now which is good. Any PC with a web browser can access it or an android or IOS mobile.

We can wing up and take out Stormy and his Discord Master Race [arrrr]

I might have to sign up for Discord just so I can hear his screams right before he kisses vacuum...

So the Discord community is connected through all platforms, correct? I believe the pc has voip, don't know about the xbox, but I would like to venture that the ps4 won't have it since we have the "party" system and communities.

don't gloat ok but i am with you duck, i really can't be bothered with this whole discord thing. it sounds good, but the problem for me is i don't have enough gadgets for everything at the moment, plus nearly everything is discord this discord that. i think the only group that doesn't use discord often and thats the galaxy famous fuel rats

I just use the web interface, I guess if you want the full version go app, if you want to just try it out, try it via the browser, works great.
