Companion App for Fleet Carrier Management

Well, title says it all. It would be nice if we could manage FCs from a mobile device outside of game. This could create a bit of passive income for owners.

I'm gonna be old fashioned here and grumble about using dedicated apps for things that a website is perfectly capable of doing.

But yes, 100%. Even if I can't jump the thing on account of not being able to view the galaxy map (unless you put in a replacement interface, like typing a system name) it'd be nice to be able to manage the markets and such.

What are you saying? That we already have this as a web site? Or that the companion app should be a web site? If it's the former do tell where, I'm unaware of it. If it's the latter it doesn't matter what platform it is, just having it would be nice.

I'm saying it should be a website rather than an app. If nothing else, websites are device-ambiguous so it won't matter whether you're accessing it from a phone, a tablet, or a PC. It also saves on the headache of having to get an app listed on the apple/android stores.

Can use a VPN app on your phone. Connect it to a laptop running elite. Personally I've just been using the laptop to manage the carrier, I only log into my PC if I plan to fly somewhere

you kind of don't understand the point of companion app.. it's so you don't have to run the game. you know, like when you go to vacation but still want to change the market price or something.

I completely understand what a companion app is, Elite used to have a basic one back in Alpha & Beta, they stopped developing it.

You have failed to understand I was trying to give you an option, you can keep an old laptop tucked away somewhere at home, use wake on LAN, and VPN into it using your phone from anywhere in the world. You don't need a powerful laptop to access a carrier and make changes.

The devs made it clear they will not allow any external phone apps modifying data. The app that was created vanished from the apple store.

This is free if you have an Nvidia account and steam version... Does not run your PC but will run on any supported Wifi and mobile device and also means No Crap cutdown mobile interface garbage...
You get 1 Hour a day for free session before disconnect... you only manage the carrier your not doing shooting so any lag won't be an issue...

I was considering decoming my carrier, transferring the funds to my alt PS4 account, and using remote play. A Cmdr is developing an automation tool for the carriers on PC, so I'll likely try that. I contract a fair bit, so a lot of time stuck in hotels, until Covid hit.
