compareing ED and SC to films

Ok this is not a real big thing just fancy having a chat to compare the games we play to films .
on SC is a real nice looking game and its getting better with every patch.
SC is in my opinion compared to starwars and firefly. with ship interiors when han solo boards the falcon and shouts get us out of hear chewe and he runs through the ship to the cockpit nice.
and firefly with the landing on outposts interacting with items when doing missions and seeing cargo in your ships hold when doing transport missions.
Now ED is more like star trek as far as getting in and out of your ship you transport into your ship take off job done .
missions are all done using either station mission terminal any transport missions are automatically on your ship and away you go .
oh and you cant really interact with other players unless you have some sort of TS to chat as we have no real group chats or emotes to even O7 other players .
i backed this game in the beginning i still play the game but the missions i did enjoy are near impossable to find to do.
restor power missions were great i enjoyed them then patch 4 happend and the missions with extinguish fires would not update.
So patch 5 came out and poof no missions on the terminals for restore power good fix lets just remove them or make them hard to find.
I have started to play SC and i am finding it great to play yes lots and lots of bugs but its an alpha you can expect that.
I was never going to back SC ever but since Oddesy came out and all the bugs with missions i find myself playing SC more and more i am even going to back them by buying my 3rd ship.
please fix our game make it fun again.
O7 commanders
stay safe out there in the black

There is no "ship boarding" in SC outside of organized acting out some scenario as none of the mechanics actually support it, and the "I am ED fan just like you so come buy SC ships for hundreds of dollars" to be a bit sad.

But beyond that, have fun. :)

If I were to compare SC and ED to films, I would say SC is a film set, with a few locations and props being set up, but no script, actors or filming anywhere in sight.
ED is like Star Trek, I agree. Trying to be mildly accurate scientifically and then adding a bit of fantasy parts, and the most important bits happen in my head, not during action sequences.

Good now you can go back and play ODY and use the same lame excuse there.
It's a bit sad how people fall for that indeed. Bugs in EDO need to be fixed, in SC people kinda gave up on it beyond some nebulous "it's normal to take [insert random number] of years, it will be fine in [current year + 2]! We just need to keep the dream alive by spending hundreds of dollars on ships!"

Which would still be fine if these evangelists would stay in their basements. Can't take a leak in any gaming community without some SC shill brushing up to you with some dumb nonsense. :/

Hmmm
Trying to think of a sci-fi movie in which the first break away civilisation we come across is defined by the fact they like to dredge stuff.
Nope, im stumped

Really good sci Fi games are rare. NMS has a somewhat interesting story. Better setting than murder hobo ED at least. Most use existing franchises. Mass Effect was pretty unique but quite cliché opera, albeit with good character work.

i mean walk onto your ship then i am still a nube in it so finding my feet so to speak

It was the dawn of the third age of mankind. Ten years after the Goon-Spectrum war. The Babylon project was dream giving form. It's goal to prevent another war by creating a place where Goons and Backers could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call. Home away from home for FUDsters, scammers, grey market traders, and faithful backers. Backers and Goons wrapped in two million five hundred thousand tons of spinning jank, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace. This is the story of last of the Babylon forums. The year is 2258. And Star Citizen still isn't released.

They could make a film about this!

Starring Derek Smart as the Dark Lord and Chris Roberts as the Saviour of PC Gaming!

I'd pay real money for a game that actually felt like Firefly. It's no coincidence that the I toggle between Red Dead and [insert favorite space game of the month]. When Star Citizen give us horses and crazy girls with mad ninja skills, sign me up!

I'd also pay real money for a game that feels like The Expanse, though it would probably have to cheat a bit when it comes to travel times.
