Completed the first mission, erm... where next?

The starter mission and a trade mission going to the same sector are complete. Whilst docked in the first station I got a notification saying urgent message but I can't find where it is?

I checked the left hand control panel but there's no message there but there is something telling me there's a High Energy FSD Wake.

Is that the next mission or is that something else?

I know it's pretty much a "do what you like game" but is the starter mission it for the set missions and I'm now free to carve my own path in the galaxy or is the High Energy FSD thing I've got the next of the "story" missions?

After I finished the very first mission I got a message alert and checked the upper left panel (tab along to the envelope symbol). There was a message there about locating four 'mentors' around the local system - they will give you missions related to different pilot disciplines (trading, mining, combat, etc) which you will earn space bucks for. You will also discover there are 'do-able' missions at each of the space ports you visit,so you can always wander off and do those, too. Try and stay in the local system (just one or two jumps away from your starting point) for a while at first, unless you're willing to risk running into a spot of bother.

How do I access it from PS4 and tab along? No button I press does anything. I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious here.

I can access lower left and lower right panels, but not the upper left panel.

Its square and triangle up then L1 R1 to tab left and right.

I assigned the different panels to their respective corners of the touchpad, it helps a lot.

hold square and press up on the d-pad, then use the left and right d-pad buttons to navigate the tabs till you get to the message (envelope) tab

Never did that starter mission. To be honest didn't notice there was one.

It appears not to have triggered for many people for whatever reason.
