How the bloody hell can they detect this so far is well beyond my pea sized brain, Incredible.

(Not being a chemist i imagine it takes some detecting on earth)

I'm pretty certain that these and similar are recognised by their light signatures.

It seems certain that, eventually life will be found elsewhere. But what surprises me personally, is why it could have ever been assumed to be different.
