Compromised Navigation Beacon

So far, the best fun I've ever had playing ED.

NPCs are really hard to kill, and when they are in wings are hard to beat.

Good Profit too!(With fun):D

Do you know whereabouts they turn up?
Are they fixed in certain systems? Random? or?
I only ask as I haven't come across one yet.
Thanks :)

I found one, and think it is fixed. Is just like Extration sites, some are normal, others are Hazardous now, and others are low.

Was on my way somewhere and came across a system with one of these and had to check it out because I wasn't sure what I'd find there. A heap of trouble, as it turned out! I've not quite adjusted to 1.4 combat yet. Fled at the hurry up to seek out repairs.

Here some advise for compromised NAV's and Haz RES's, which are pretty much the same:

ca. 75% of the ships at this places are wanted, ca. 25% are not, there is no security. The wanted ones always are pirates, do not bring any cargo to this places. What will happen is that the guys scan your ship for cargo, and just leave you alone with the usual 'bah nothing...' comment. With any cargo you'll have 8-10 red blibs on your radar after 30 seconds or so. Tested this with a A rated Python and military bulkheads, so I got away, but it was tough.

Without cargo the wanted pirates will you ignore you, so choose you targets wisely. Might not be a great idea to attack the next elite ranked Anaconda flying in a wing of 3. Also watch the not wanted guys, they will get into fights with the pirates and then it is much easier to get down the Anaconda wing, if they can't concentrate on you alone.

I went into my first one of these yesterday and only just got out. I have a battle anaconda - A7 shields A0 boosters x 3 and double-banked 6A and 5B SCB's - My shields were dropped like they were tissue paper and by the time I high-waked out I was on 15% hull. Cost me 150K+ in repairs, not as much as a wing of vultures cost me a while ago but WOW they sure didn't waste any time ganging up on me with their rail-guns or whatever.

I get the impression that F D want to make some instances where solo players don't stand a chance and only by winging-up can you make decent inroads.

I certainly won't be back in a compromised beacon instance ever again, total overkill.

Then you had cargo or one of the factions was hostile. The places I found so far were not hostile for me, as long as I have no cargo the wanted ones leave me alone and I have all time to pick my fight. It is a good idea to engage wanted targets that are in a fight with not wanted ones already, the not wanted ones won't come to your help like security does.

Dropped into one of these a couple of nights ago in my tradeconda (no SCBs), got to about my fifth target, when all hell broke loose on my shields. Managed to finish of the deadly clipper as my shields dropped, high-waked the heck out of Dodge with 74% hull.

Absolute blast!!!!!

I'm going back tonight, now that tradeconda has been transformed into battleconda. Standby for "Last night I lost my Anaconda" thread tomorrow, once I can focus on my screen through the tears that is.

Since release and when server does not go mad i've hang in those compromised nav with my battleconda alone to farm my combat rank from deadly to elite , and well i don't feel too much in danger... i had never big problem , only when i bring cargo or when i shoot another bounty hunter by accident and became wanted... well then you'd better run for you hull! but no those compromised nav beacon work defentivly well in solo ;)

or you were wanted or you attacked a wing of big and high ranked ship or you were bringing cargo or last option you ran out of luck by a big margin ^^

Yeah no doubt it was because I had some cargo - I was stacking missions again. (I can't get out of the mindset of maximising profit on a journey.)

Maybe I'll give it another try with an empty hold (and a shed-load of hull reinforcements).

Agree with the previous comments. No cargo, no bounty, not hostile with a local faction and don't pick on wings. You are absolutely fine. Great fun. (We are allowed to have fun?)

Yes. Yes you are. Go to it!

Ima rename 1.4 to 1.Fun. Seems like it's more than just the smugglers who got some partytimes out of this new iteration of the game.

The one I hit the other night was in an Anarchy system, and I didn't have a KWS fitted. Have you come across any in a policed system (so I don't have to sacrifice a slot for the KWS)?

Arnemil - Federation - democracy/corporate - refinery + extraction - 2 outposts tiny population
