Horizons Compute Shaders

Every time I load Elite Dangerous Horizons it goes through the create shaders routine and then goes onto the compute shaders. The compute shaders screen tells me that this is only done on the first run or if a graphics card or driver is changed. I did upgrade the driver before running the programme but now it goes through the compute shaders routine every time I run Elite.

Is this correct or a bug? Have I missed something?

Yep, I'm getting this as well.
I thought it might have something to do with running a DK2 and injecting Sweet FX in there but I'm not too sure.

Yeah me too. Although the first time it did it, the process took just over a minute whereas now it just powers through in a second or two. I just assumed it was like the first shaders routine where it just does a quick check to make sure nothing has changed needing them regenerating

This happens to me as well. It definitely isn't "first run" only. It's every time I load. I have default ED, no third party graphics.

It takes a significant length of time (but I have a 470 gtx so I can understand why). It even runs when I load the 32 bit client.

I put up with it but it would be nice if it only ran when it said it should.

The first run after installation or a driver update will take quite a long time (30+ sec), all subsequent runs should still show the little loading animation/notice but should only take seconds since the shaders are already cached.

If you're having to wait 30+ seconds on each startup report as a bug, after the 1st run it should only be 2-3 seconds.

Maybe it depends on how much VRAM your card has?
I'm running a GTX570 with 1.25 gig (soon to be replaced by a 970 I hope), and it takes only a few secs to fill the shader cache.

There're a lot of us that can't even get past the compute shader screen; it just crashes to desktop before it completes.

The first time it ran on my PC it took a comparatively long time (a minute or more), but ever since has taken a few seconds (no more than 10).

Takes several minutes for me, every time I run the game. I normally fire it up then go and make a cup of tea now.

Nope!

Everytime the game starts it wastes 50 Seconds on setting up graphics.
No changes to my environment, I call "Bug".
